[REQ] Holidays

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:12 am

In light of http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15213, I figured I would ask if any skilled modder would be willing to take a stab at a Holiday mod for Fallout, could be interesting.

I might be a little slow in replying to this, but hey ;P

I like the idea, and I think theres something like this for Oblivion, but for the Tamrielic(?) holidays.
Ill get started right away, though Ill probably need a few custom meshes at some point...

Edit - If anybody has any holidays they'd like to include, then feel free to mention them.

I don't know about that one, but there's one for Morrowind: http://princessstomper.wordpress.com/2009/05/02/the-holiday-mod/.

I guess christmas trees are out of the question for Fallout? :hehe:

Well, I certainly think it would be interesting if you decided to take some creative liberties and create some interesting holidays of your own for the mod that could reasonably fit into such a setting as Fallout (it would stand to reason that in the 200 years since the war and original fallout that the remnants of humanity may have devised new reasons for celebration). Now, with that said, some actual holidays that I personally think may have survived the end of civilization would be: New Year's, Christmas (or some gift giving semblance thereof - possibly with something akin to the Gifts4Kids mod included), Thanksgiving (or, again, some semblance of said holiday), and the obvious individual birthdays (I know the Morrowind mod linked touched into this as well, could be interesting to see Companions having birthdays or something along those lines).

Anyways, that's just me rambling about some general ideas and such.

Thats Christmas just about done.
Im not sure how I could represent followers birthdays other than a simple message.
Maybe force them to wear a party hat for the day? :P

Im working on Teddy Bear Day at Little Lamplight now.
Then Maybe Megaton or Rivet Cities aniversaries...

I voiced a crazy idea long ways back for a Christmas quest where the player finds a dying guy in a Santa suit next to a motorcycle with sidecar (custom mesh), who with his last breath says he wanted to bring a Christmas greeting to [insert town]. Dieing in the players arms so to speak, the player can assume the dead guy's role and carry out his dieing wish, utilizing Pov's brilliant gift4kids mod.

Optionals (for added XP) would be to cover as many towns as possible in one evening, making use of Nib's motorcycle mod (with a sack of toys in the sidecar)

Pimping the mod would entail that any and all companions are automatically dressed as elves -including Fawkes. Female companions get risque xmas-elf outfits, because I'm shallow :D
But, again, that's just trimmings.. pun intended.

Well, I would imagine a little flair dialogue and possibly some kind of dialogue options to be able to present them with a random gift of some sort would be neat (if possible), and possibly the Companions and maybe a few random NPCs being willing to give the PC a gift on their birthday.
