Holstering Weapons

Post » Mon Dec 07, 2015 7:31 pm

Leaks confirmed that we have a small pack animal instead of holstering a weapon. Can't link here but if you check reddit you'll find the AMAs to confirm.

One of the least important changes for me. Could care less one way or another. Usually when I do look at my character I pull my gun out and look at then aiming down sites to see how bad ass I look with a rifle in my hands.

Part of the issue for me is that nobody will ever look armed unless they are holding the thing in their arms. In previous games, this only happened when they entered combat mode. Which gave you the oddity in Morrowind of having guards walking around that were apparently entirely unarmed, who would all draw spears at a moment's notice. It will now be hard to size up enemies outside of combat.

Yeah, I know about the invisible holstered weapons. Still doesn't explain why so many people are obsessed with the imagery of things being yanked out of butts.

Yeah, besides. We are all androids with Robocop thighs anyway. That's where the gun goes. This isn't "no holsters confirmed!", it's "Android theory confirmed!"

Yes this is another issue I have.

It just seems strange that we're going back the Morrowind system here. At least we can lower our weapons I guess? It'll still be strange having a gun drawn 24/7 when I'm in town, otherwise I'll have to unequip it and let it disappear into nothingness.

It's a joke about where the guns come from since they appear from nowhere see.

A good practice I heard from a different thread on this forum would be for Bethesda to do is when they can't decide if we players would like a certain feature as is or gone and if its doable make it a toggle in the options so WE decide if the clipping or weapon hovering is too much or not.

Same place all the other guns that weren't on your back came from in the previous games.

I'm familiar with the idiom. It just gets weird and played out after awhile.

Yeah, it's odd how they decided to go with ass storage for everything instead of finding a way to display the weapons that used it before.

Aww, Yan Templer is just pulling your leg ass man.

OT: Since I've heard about the pack animal I'm less put off by the capacious ass locker. Though it'll be kinda weird having a brahmin (I'm assuming) following you everywhere. Hopefully it doesn't count as a companion. Do you think we can ride it? BATTLE BRAHMIN!

For me, the inclusion of something that likely would look bad--a weirdly clipping or floating weapon on your back--would harm teh mershunz more than the visual absence of something, however illogical that absence might be.

I'll get over this one.

but then we'd have so many toggles we'd need a toggle to toggle the toggles for the people who dislike toggles! i say they should have more communication with the community during development and just ask our opinion via official poll or something but that isn't very likely, i'v only ever seen indie games and MMOs constantly under development do something like that.

There's a Rule 34 image about Fallout that explains that :P :bolt:

Add one feature, break five others. That's my Bethesda ^_^

It's been said that no where in the official or unofficial footage has a weapon been shown holstered on the PC or NPCs. However there is at least one shot in the lone wanderer trailer that shows a rifle on the back of the PC.

So what about that?

The live action trailer? Hardly has to do with gameplay

No, not the live action trailer. the lone wanderer trailer. you know the one that the wanderer song plays in.

Here is a pic from Bethesda.net showing pistol holster on hip and rifle on back.
