HOLY CARP, ITEMS RESPAWN IN THE SAFEHOUSES!

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 11:51 am

I just found out that all of the items added with the 1.02 patch are placed in the safehouses EVERY TIME you install the patch.

I had uninstalled the patch to access the Abandoned BOS Bunker (I'm on PS3), then reinstalled the patch. Then I remembered that I had missed the Lucky Shades in the Legion Safehouse and returned to get it. Low and behold, all the items that 1.02 had added were back again! I checked the other safehouses (except BOS, I'm not there yet) and found that all of those items were back again too!

Basically, this means infinite of the following rare items:

Chainsaw
Multiplas Rifle
Time Bomb
Tri-Beam Laser Rifle
Tesla Cannon
All-Purpose Science Suit
Centurion Armor
Praetorian Armor
Vexillarius Armor
NCR Combat Armor
NCR Patrol Armor
NCR Salvaged Power Armor
T-51b and T-45d Power Armor (NON-FACTION!!!!!)
Lucky Shades

Carp: http://www.oneinchpunch.net/2007/07/24/worlds-largest-carp-caught-by-thai-fisherman/

Do the ones you picked up stay in your inventory as well or do they reset to the safehouse after re-installing the patch?

Why would they reset to the safe house?

Why would they reset to the safe house?

I dunno, are they removed from the game after deleting the patch or do they re-appear in your inventory after you re-install it?

That's not how it works, The patch doesn't add [new]items to the safe houses it adds already existing item to the safe houses. The patch would have to add an item to the data files for anything to be removed when its deleted. Now for a DLC like dead money or the pre-order stuff deleting it WOULD remove those items from you as they don't exist at all with out the download.

Above user is 100% correct.
These items ARE NOT ADDED with the patch, merely placed in the world. They already exist in the files, just in other locations (or not at all, like the science suit and Lucky Shades).

For those of you that don't get that, basically:

Items obtained from safehouses ARE NOT REMOVED when you uninstall the patch, but are added AGAIN when you reinstall the patch.

I am glad that they added the Lucky Shades back in the game. Makes the 4 Eyed Trait really worth taking.

I don't think those were there pre-patch.

They were in the game files, but not in the world itself. You'll find that most, if not all, of items from Fallout 3 are in the New Vegas game files.
Kinda looks like Obsidian did a complete copy-paste with them.

There are numerous missing pieces from Fallout 3 that simply do not exist in the NV GECK. Read some of the mod threads in the NV GECK forum from people trying to port mods from F3 to NV and you'll understand just how much was stripped out of the game files. Curious as to why as they could have just been left in as resources, but that's the way they decided to go with it.

Forgot to mention that the Ammo and Magazines found in Safehouses with Patch 1.02 respawn as well.
