Holy Crap Patch 1.9

Post » Tue Mar 05, 2013 4:07 am

This will not make the game more difficult, it will just makes fights longer and force you to carry a crapload of potions. Sheesh. Skyrim is easy because the AI is dumb and combat too simple, not because enemies have too little health.
I hope when you say "better AI" you don't mean some of the supposed "good" AI that's in a lot of games these days. You know the ones that don't know to do anything else but rush you and relentlessly attack you and do nothing else.

Ah. That might be it. Looks Iike I'll have to go into the console

Considering the quest has been fixed for quite a while, that might be best ;)

Just be careful not to accidentally reset your only combat ability if you've only used one. You don't want to be facing draugr murderboss deathlords with a piddly 15 one handed skill.

that is my main fear. The other one is related to skills like smithing or enchanting. They will reset after a few skill uses? it will only allow us to dragon smith or double enchant for a brief period of time!

I think I'll stay at 1.8 until they make this update mandatory.

You get reset to skill level 15 in that skill, but keep the perk points. So by the sounds of it, you can keep goin if you want and eventually perk everything.

It also means you won't have to do silly stuff like smash a load of lockpicks to earn a level up that you can spend on one-handed when that skill is at 100.

You keep your perks. I'm not sure if your skill level is preserved, though (like, legendary 15 is the new 100).
You lose your perks and your skill level. You're effectively a newbie again.

Alright, what am I doing wrong? I have three things in that Properties -&--#62; Beta dropbox and all require a password?

That's the definition of bad AI. And it so happens that Skyrim uses it, at least in case of followers: try being sneaky with a warrior in tow... Unless one of the DLC already fixed it, I don't know, I haven't used followers ever since I discovered they're useless for the type of characters I usually play.

Making a skill 'Legendary' is optional, not forced.

I think the AI is decent, i've seen AI use traps to there advantage while falling back and using arrows as cover fire.

We need details from Bethesda.
When you say DLC, I'm assuming you don't mean downloadable content?

The skills leveling reminds me of old fallout 1 & 2 where you could get a useful skill up to 130 or more. So if you wanted to be an assasian/thief you could work on those skills alone to level up and not waste time with smithing, magery, etc to level up

It sounds as if it's optional (i.e. you choose to set a skill as Legendary, not automatic).

You retain the perks, but they are no longer active. So if you had 4 in the one handed tree, you'll suddenly find yourself with 4 perk points after the reset as they're no longer invested in that skill tree.

I thought he was talking about keeping perks in the tree that was just reset. It made no sense. If he meant perks as in perk points, then sure, you keep them :)

Well, good. To be honest, Bethesda need to let NPCs smith/improve/enchant items for us. At the moment these crafting skills have somewhat become a necessity.

Unless you mean that skills will automatically reset themselves once they reach 100. Then no, they do not. Making a skill Legendary is completely optional.

This is what I read it as - you can take the same perks again or just learn different ones

So you can put then right back into the same skill you just rest.

It means that your skills are reset to 15 so you can continue levelling them, gain new levels and thus gain new perks rather than stop leveling after hitting 100 with all your skills.
Wonder if the next DLC will be balanced for this setting

My thought exactly, Now there are good possibilities beth will add new perk trees in future DLC.

If it's optional, I can live with that. But I'll better leave you to test first.
