Homosixuality in the world of Elder Scrolls

Post » Thu Nov 25, 2010 10:34 am

Unless used as a comical reference, but as a serious gameplay element? I say no. *Casts 100% Resist Fire on self* If it makes you feel any better, I also say no to hetero-relationships in Skyrim too, maybe some dialog swapped between the player and an npc but no marrying and having kids type of relationship.

Oh please. You can steal and murder innocent people in the Elder Scrolls series and in games like Fable. But oh no! The smallest hint of homosixuality! Can't play those games!

How completely and utterly ridiculous.

you don't have to murder innocent people and if people don't like it then they don't like it dude. It doesn't matter how ignorant it may be, that is still their decision/freedom to do so.

There are NPCs in the game who are thieves and murderers, you can't choose to not see them. A man murdering a man for no reason is fine, but a man in love with a man is the worst thing that has ever happened. Ban that sick filth. Etc.

I never said a single thing about anyone having to like anything. I'm very deeply morally against slavery and nothing will ever change my mind about that, but I'm still okay with it being in Morrowind and having its place in the Elder Scrolls series.

This whole thread boils down to one thing. "Damned if you do. Damned if you don't."

I want to play Skyrim to get away from reality for a while. I enjoy realism and immersion to an extent. I don't want to come across two NPC arguing about homosixuality and then a third NPC that comes across bashing them because they think it's a sin and those other two NPC then start chastising that NPC for their right of freedom of speech.

Edit: So let's go back to debating about Spears and Crossbows.

the orc smith in bliss from shivering isles was a homosixual. he didnt come out and say it but it was obvious. i dont see the point in trying to force this into the game tho. its not necessary and considering the times of the elder scrolls it probably wuld be looked down upon in their society. and i dont want to say gay dragons. sorry man dragons are here to look cool and be badarse this time around. and scary. by making same six dragon couples ur killing that whole element. because homosixuality is hardly looked upon as being scary. i doubt dragons will have any relationships at all in this game. they r presented a little more like monsters then in the lore this time around. i dont see y u have a problem with the lack of lisbian and gay relationships. its not necessary to have and elder scrolls is not based around relationships. i doubt you'll find gay princes as well. thats too out and open and like i said gay princes would probably not be allowed at these times. Elder scrolls resembles a time in human history where there was alot of homophobia. i feel they wuld be going out of their way to include this.

Lol, you're not from the U.S. maybe? There are people who think homosixuality is the reason for natural disasters and is basically inviting god's wrath on everyone.

^Basically that.

We've Real Life™ to discuss those (and worse) things. TES is about travelling to another universe, far from our viewpoints and (mostly rotten) ethics.

...just my 2 cents :D

The only kind I'd tolerate is the kind seen in Modern Family, or the hilariousness seen in Adam Baldwin and Adam Sandler's Canteen Boy from SNL, as far as women go... As long as it's not trashy.

You know, every time I see threads like this and read the replies I think "Is this really 2010 2011?"

It's time to close this topic. Whilst it has been relatively constructive and the level of discussion has been good I have had to delete several posts that are not appropriate for this forum.

Thanks to those who kept it at a good level, those who lost posts should refresh themselves of the forum rules.
