My honest feedback: Project V13

First off, I would like to offer my salutations to everyone here. That is as far as I wish take this general introduction. I did not create this topic to make friends. My only objective is to provide my feedback to the people responsible for creating (and helping to create) this amazing video game. I am, indeed, a Fallout fan-boy. Although I've never played the first game, I managed to discover Fallout 2 when I was a teenager and greatly enjoyed it and have been following the series ever since. Post apocalyptic books/movies/games have always been a favorite of mine and no other title has brought out my adoration as the Fallout series. Thank you, thank you very much to the people responsible. It was this very day, March the second 2011, that I first heard of Project V13. What I describe below is my vision of this game. I will keep ultimatums out of my vision as it's disrespectful to the hard working folks that spend their life energy creating this game. I only wish to convey my idea, my vision, the way I see the game inside my own mind as a success.

The first hurdle that came to mind was character customization. I believe that any Fallout MMO would have to have the best character customization out there. Hundreds, if not thousands, of different faces, hair styles, body types, eye color, height and accessories to personal style. Earrings, tattoos, other body piercings and even cosmetics. Players of this MMO need the ability to retain a uniqueness like that which we have in real life.

The second hurdle that came to mind was PvP/PvE/any. This is a tricky subject for me to explain. Personally, I don't really think there should be any form of PvP in the game at all. I'm sure there is a huge outcry for PvP (as other games have proven) and my solution for this is something like neutral zones, or outlaw territories. Enter at your own risk type of places where players that like to PvP can roam and jump unsuspecting people and maybe even create their own clans. Also, maybe some sort of arena type PvP or gladiator type PvP held in a colosseum. All in all I believe this subject needs to handled with extreme care.

The third hurdle I thought of was a leveling system. In Fallout 3 (before DLC) we were capped at level 20. I think the system from Fallout 3 (with minor revisions) is the way the MMO needs to go. It truly doesn't matter to me what the level cap is, I'm not for or against it, I only know that there needs to be a cap. On another note Project V13 needs to avoid excessive grinding/missions. The reason for this being that any MMO out there offers you the chance to fulfill missions and kill monsters repeatedly to gain experience. Project V13 needs to find a unique balance to this, an originality, like the spark created from flint and steel.

The fourth hurdle is simply the world itself. The world a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y needs to shock and astound. Symmetry and Asymmetry abound, crumbled buildings, radiation, secret places, vaults, destroyed bridges, survivor made buildings, scary fvcking dead zones and Death Stalker infested swamps. The beauty of the graphics need to match the size of the world. The entire United States is not too much to ask for, in my mind, and later the world! The pinnacle of perfection would acutely be... The world itself, completely accessible, in all it's apocalyptic glory. I can dream big cant I?

The fifth hurdle would be the game-play. It cant be the same as the current Fallout titles because some things just wouldn't work. Like V.A.T.S. I just cant image how that would work in a MMO. You cant freeze real time, this isn't a TiVO we're talking about. I guess it could work in a PvP free environment (to tell the truth I'm a big fan of the V.A.T.S. system) but other than that I just don't know. Also, the game needs to stay true to the style that Fallout has come to be known and loved for. That means anything and everything can be shot and killed and stolen. Some sort of random generator that spawns drops all over the U.S.A so that there would be an unlimited supply, and places to find, Nuka-Cola, detergent, vacuums, rail spikes, ammunition, food and what-have-you. Certain things should be rare and hard to accumulate such as Nuka Quantum, Alien Blaster ammo and anything else that should be scarce in nature (think rare drops or rare spawns). Other out side the box thinking needs to be brainstormed as well, like, I've always wanted to be able to climb the mountains as a nice shortcut to get somewhere.

I've covered just about everything I've wanted to get out there. You'll notice I didn't touch on race or class issues mainly because I don't care. As long as "Death Stalker" isn't a playable character type then I think the developers will do just fine. On a closing note, I do hope very much that this MMO will be genuinely innovative. I very much want to see this game on the cover of magazines, with critics raving wildly about how original and fantastic and addictively playable it is. However, I can say with utmost assurance, that whatever form this game takes I will be a part of it. Don't charge me more than twenty bucks a month please, although I'd gladly pay more, because I am a true fan and supporter. I hope my feedback helped.

(Don't expect to see me around, I am an internet recluse by nature and rarely ever speak up on anything. Yet, as an avid gamer for all of my twenty six years of life, I feel I owe my favorite game a couple hours of my time. Truth be told I'll probably never visit this forum again, I just got caught up in the hype and I am not setting myself up for disappointment)

tl;dr: I like Fallout. Here's what I want in the game: in depth character customization, no PvP (then he says there should be a PvP arena and neutral zones where people can fight each other), a level cap like in Fallout 3, a big world with beautiful scenery, good gameplay and innovative ideas. I don't care about race or class issues. I want the game to succeed and be popular. Please don't charge more than $20 a month. I won't revisit these forums; I just wanted everyone to read my rambling, pontifical wall of text.

Thanks for your ideas.

Please read up about Fallout Online and the difference between Bethesda and gamesas, and perhaps some developer Q&A's before posting again. Many of the topics you touched upon have been address in some form or another.

That is said with the sincerest of amiable intent. Another drunk conquistador conquering the governor's ball...
