Honest Hearts FAQ

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 6:06 pm

This is a continuation of this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1178036-next-dlc-announcement-part-ii/
Now I know I know it's a couple of posts early to post it but I'd rather have this up before "it" becomes a copy thread of a new one.
Somehow the former thread seemed confusing to some people and earned a lot of copy threads.
Hopefully this one will keep people on track and have them post any and all new info here instead. (So that it's organized more efficiently.)
And of course, feel free to discuss the info we have at hand but remember the rules.

Again, if you find any new info about Honest Hearts (Or any other DLC for that matter) then please post it here rather than creating a new thread for it as it will be closed down and linked back to this one.

This thread will be updated whenever new info related to Honest Hearts or other DLC's is released, make sure to stop by regularly to stay updated on what info we have.

Honest Hearts FAQ

(Actually I have no idea how a FAQ is done so I'll just ramble on here.)

Asked questions:

Will we be able to play this one if we're stuck in Hoover Dam?
It's unknown at the moment but most likely no, you do have to play it with a character prior to the Hoover Battle.

Will they release a Broken Steel esque DLC for New Vegas? (Will Honest Hearts be that?)
No, they will not.

Will it raise the level cap?
At the moment, we don't know.

Will there be new perks?
All other Fallout DLC's have included new perks so yes, it's a high probability.

Will it be free roam like Point Lookout was?
We don't know but it's speculated from that it's to take place in Zion National Park and from one of the screenshots below that it might have a larger focus on exploration

When will it be released?
The only official announcement we have is that it will be released simultaneously on all ports after the newest patch has been released to all of them.

When will a trailer be released? [Updated - April 22nd]
Judging from http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-GB/Product/Fallout-New-Vegas-Teaser-Trailer-HD/00000000-0000-400b-80bf-0002425307e0 and a glitch at XBLA showing the same thing a trailer should be coming along very shortly.

When will the patches be released?
"The Fallout: New Vegas PS3 patch was supposed to go out at midnight tonight in SCEA countries. Until PSN comes back, we won't know exactly when it will be live. PC users will still get the patch today, and we expect 360 to be live by the end of the week."

The subtitle for it says, "Are you the scientist or the guinea pig?"

* Update from Bethesda (It's mostly talk about the upcoming patch.)
Hi everyone,

On behalf of all of the hard-working teams at Bethesda and Obsidian, I’d like to give you an update what we’ve been working on these past few months.

Well, here’s what happened: our next DLC release (announcement coming very soon, we promise) has been complete while we worked on getting a patch ready for you all. We didn’t want to just release more DLC before we had a patch that would improve the overall New Vegas experience.

The good news is that we do have such a patch and it’s been handed off to the necessary platform owners. It should be released in the next couple of weeks on 360, PS3 and PC (can’t be more specific than that, I’m afraid, although PC will almost certainly get it first).

So what’s in that patch? First and foremost, optimizations and stability improvements. While there are bug fixes, our core focus was on improving stability and performance. We worked directly with first party platform owners to identify issues, and we have fixed a great deal of the crashes and lockups that people were experiencing. In addition, we scoured the forums and this patch includes weapon balance tweaks and other requested fixes.

We know we’re not done yet. There’s still more work to do, and we’ll be monitoring the forums very carefully following the release of this patch, looking for more issues. We do have another update planned further down the line.

So I’d like to apologize for the radio silence. Hopefully you’ll be pleased with the enormous amount of work we’ve put into this update over the last few months, and will enjoy the rest of our DLC releases. We have some pretty cool stuff coming soon. Stay tuned!

Thanks,
Jason Bergman
Senior Producer, FNV

* Sidenote
When a trailer is released it will be updated into this thread but the trailer is also going to have it's own thread. (So moderators, don't close down this thread nor the trailer thread once it's up.)

If there is a magazine article featuring heavy amounts of information then it also deserves it's own thread. (while the information will be updated to this one as well.) (Moderators, again, both threads should remain open.)

If information is given to us and it's neither a trailer nor a big magazine article then it does not warrant it's own thread.
Small or moderate pieces of information usually gets anolyzed very quickly and then the threads reduces itself to spamming and/or derailment.
(Certain topics can only be discussed for so long until it breaks down into repetitiveness and/or derailment of the topic at hand.)
((Even if they were allowed to exist they would die out and be replaced constantly and never really serve a point except for easy +postcount.))
(((Hence why they do not warrant their own threads.)))

Wait. If Qore is already talking about Old World Blues... then doesn't that mean that Honest Hearts will be out before the next Qore (May 3)?

Not necessarily.
Honest Hearts is already complete so Old World Blues might be in it's final stages if not complete too.
So those two might be released far closer together.
Still, May 3 is like 16 days or so away and with so little info on Honest Hearts I doubt it'll get released before that date.
But both of the DLC's info might come closer together.

Like, an example:

April 19th: HH info.
April 21th: HH info.
May 3rd: OWB info.
May 6th: HH info.
May 10th: OWB info.

That's possible, but I wouldn't be surprised (Note: NOT EXPECTING) if Honest Hearts came out this week. Since Obsidian finished the patch, they have no reason to not release the next DLC. Just a thought.

April 19th is most likely not gonna happen. I mean they haven't released the trailer. Probably the day the patch is gonna come out though.

I doubt the 19th too. What's that, four days away? Not enough time for the patch to hit all three networks. And even then, they'd give it a week to make sure everyone has downloaded it. Nah, I'm afraid we're looking at end of April/first week of May at the earliest. I'd be very surprised (delighted) if that wasn't the case, but I'm a realist :)

At least one of the future DLC items is probably going to feature a level cap raise, since Dead Money parked it at level 35 and you get Perks every 2 levels. Leaving it at an odd number (halfway to a perk level) then seems highly implausible in the long-term New Vegas design.

I could use a extra point of strength, but I doubt they will because most of my stats are 65 and above except for 2. And wondering what would the patch do seeing how most bugs and glitches are already fixed and it sure is taking them quite a while for this patch, hope it will add random encounters and more deatchclaws

This is rather quite pointless, due to all the questions being "we don't know." In any case this might stop new comers from making their own threads.

1. Well, it'll be updated when new info is release that confirms the questions.
2. But yes, the answers being "We don't know" is, amongst other things, for that reason.

No matter how many ask it the answer (currently) will be the same: We have no idea.

I dislike that there is so little info out though, all we have to go by is a couple of wikia links and 3 screenshots 2 of which are tiny.
But once we finally have a tons of information it's nice to have it all collected at one thread.
Easier for people new to the DLC info to read up on it.

So Bethesdian, please hurry up with fleshing out my OP. D:<

What if they pulled a little sneaky trick and just named it something else :P
So, we do not REALLY know anything about the future DLC's, its all speculation?. If the latest DLC is already complete they could atleast tell us something. anything. Id be happy to here them say anything aout the upcoming DLC.

I still think Honest Hearts is going to involve the Crimson Caravan. They talk about setting up trade routes in Utah (even Ringo mentions it) so maybe they are the ones that give you the assignment to head there. Once you get there you get mixed up with the Burning Man. That's my guess anyways.

A large amount of it is speculative but we have some confirmed details.
Like Honest Hearts will include mormons, Canaan, Graham and tribals.
But yeah, we have very little confirmed information.
Once more is release though the OP will be updated with it and hopefully some better discussion and speculation can brew.

Hang on.....
Mormon's as in the ones who knock on my door and ask me if i want to "see the light"?

Do you think the developers would even take any of our idea's into concideration anyway?

The ideas we put in this: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1176774-future-dlc-suggestions-8/ ?
I think they might read some of them and take some into consideration but whether or not they'll be accepted and developed is up to them.
I don't hold too high hopes really, I don't think developers like the idea of fans ruling the game/DLC design.
It's their project yknow, they will do what they want to do, not like they're gonna build the DLC upon our suggestions.
Like, say you're doing a painting, then you get people going "needs more red here", "this has too smooth lines".
As an artist you would get irritated since it's "your" project.
I think that the developers will feel the same way.
It's their DLC.
They want to design it the way they want to design it.
So I wouldn't hold my breath for my suggestions to make the cut.

Yes, i can see it as being their "work of art" BUT the ones they are making it for are us, the player's of the game.
If somebody was making a marble statue of me, witch happens all the time :P , i would want them to use some of my suggestion's as im the one paying for it in the end.
There are so many good idea's on these forum's that they should be looking through to see what us, the consumer, really wants. I'm not saying change the story or whatnot, just add features that many of us want.

Sure, I agree, but what some people suggest might not be in their best interest for the game design.
Or it's just not possible for them to devote such time and resources on a suggestion
I do think they should listen to our suggestions a lot more.
Like, in Dead Money and Broken Steel it was shown that they can in fact bring us more perks with the DLC's.
Well.
In most perk suggestion threads there have been hundreds of good perk suggestions.
IMO the developers should try to include as many as possible in the DLC's to freshen up the perk selection.
The one's we got in Dead Money was IMO a joke, pathetic, laughable excuses.
Not to mention the small amount of perks given when they could have given us more.
I know it's quality over quantity but when the quality is [censored] then I'd rather go for quantity.
So yes, I think they should definitely listen to our suggestions and try to bring them forth as long as they are within reason.
But I've honestly not seen a lot of occasions where developers have listened to the fans requests in the suggestion threads.
Some they have listened to, but the majority of suggestions seems to be thrown in the bin.

I guess we'll see in Honest Hearts whether some suggestions made the cut or if they don't really listen to them.

1) None of these have been Frequently asked so basically you just came up with it off the top of your head...so wrong thread.
2) the whole game is freeroam, why would it suddenly not be?

It means that the DLC COULD and I emphasize COULD be rather linear like say Anchorage or the Pitt. Freeroam would be like a Point Lookout DLC where you can come as you go, go where you want, do it when you want to kind of deal.

Sawyer said that the devs are the ones making (the game), and no forum posters are going to dictate the way the game goes (or words to that affect). So we can do a million "We would like more aliens" or "Fallout 4 should be in Timbuktu" but ultimately the devs and the game owners are going to make the game THEIR way. If we like it, we buy it. If we don't, we won't.

1. Those questions have been frequently asked.
2. Dead Money had an exploration aspect, like The Pitt, but it was still very linear with it's story progression and area unlocking.

Niamh, exactly, all we can hope is that they look over our suggestions and give them some thought but ultimately it's completely up to them whether they wish to listen to "any" suggestions at all.

For the hoover dam thing in the FAQs area you might just want to say that "NO DLC WILL CONTINUE AFTER THE ENDING, EVER. CONFIRMED BY THE MAKERS OF THE GAME."

Also, I'm almost positive that none of the screen shots of HH show the courier in them because usually they have pictures of the Courier wearing the Vault suit and every FO3 DLC had the LW wearing his vault suit. Maybe the town New Canaan is being harassed by tribals or perhaps tribals is just another term for raiders.

Finally, i'm more then positive that each DLC will add 5 lvls because i remember reading somewhere that the game had a LVL limit up to 50 right now its at 35 so with O.W.B. + L.S.R. + HH = 50lvls which is about what it will take to make our characters Demi gods.

I don't mind being a Demi god but I know a lot of people have RP and balance issues with that; but it's mainly for console players because they're so used to being Demi Gods in different campaigns and the fact that they can't just mod there stats like PC users can.
