Honest Hearts OverHyped?

Post » Fri Nov 05, 2010 8:03 pm

I'm starting to think honest hearts might svck hardcoe. Who knows though everyone is hoping for so much out of this DLC. For all we know it could be worse then Dead Money. Have svcky story, bad weapons/armor and no good perks. Only time will tell I guess.

Other than Graham has there been any hype?
I've mostly come across annoyance and impatience that the DLC hasn't been released.
But hype?
Not imo.

Not really seeing the point of this thread?
How are we supposed to know if it is overhyped without actually playing it? :S

We have nothing to hype about. People normally expect something to be great and when they get to it they're disappointed by the outcome. Then they blame the people who make it, when they should be blaming themselves for getting to excited.

What I expect from HH is some nice Role-playing from the mind of Chris avellone, nothing more, nothing less.

I just wanna play the damn thing. I have trophies that I need to earn. I mean they gave me trophies and I can't get them. I'm nearly at 100% for Fallout 3. Just need to complete Operation: Anchorage and complete the Alien Archivist and I'm done. They've given us a glimpse of the story in the trophies and I can't play... That... that is just MEAN. Why would you do this to me... why? *cries, svcks thumb and strokes his NCR t-shirt...

Yeah, Beth doesn't need to hype anything really. All the [censored] start to wet their pants at the slightest hint of new content (myself included).

We seem to love setting ourselves up for dissapointment, then angrily fill the forums with our rants.

Stop thinking about it; nothing can live up to the hype we all create.

Your avatar is extremely appropriate here IMO.

I don't see what "hype" you're talking about, OP. I believe there's a difference between hype and anticipation. Since we virtually have not heard anything regarding the story or gameplay of HH, therefore there cannot be "hype". However, there is much anticipation buzzing about. A good majority of us are just curious as to how it's gonna be.

PS Dead Money's story was great. Sorry you didn't enjoy it. :(

About 50% of all forums on the interwebs are rants about nothing.

It's been used in negative terms.

As said the only real hype was/is about Graham. I'd personally be disappointed if he turns out to be a bit boring, or doesn't have a major role.

Exactly my point.

It's like when little kids think too much about christmas morning.

We are all bound to be dissapointed if we get too excited.

Well, there kinda has. The screens? The thumbnail thing on the Game Marketplace for Xbox? And that announcement from Bethesda a while back, thats trying to build hype, but they fail, and it pisses everyone off.

Nowadays there really isn't much hype for it. I know I was pretty hyped at the start but they lost their window of oppertunity and now I honestly aren't as pumped for it.

There really hasn't been much hype at all. All we've gotten is a XBL Marketplace image, a youtube video from Bethesda that was set to private then deleted, but contained a tiny image of 2 tribal women fighting, and trophy/achievements. Other than that there has been nothing. Over hyped? I'd say under hyped at this point. They've had plenty of time to release a trailer, yet still haven't. They need to get their heads out of their butts, stop worrying about the patches so much, and put out something already.

I think everyone is so hyped about it because it's been so long since the last DLC was released. It is giving us a good reason to go back and play it again. By now most of us already have most/all the achievements. I'm hyped about it because I have read the descriptions of the characters and the location etc. Everything mentioned seems cool. Plus it's a new thing to do. I personally can't wait for old world blues. I am speculating that that DLC will have Ulysses as the main other character. I am curious to see what will happen there. For me Honest Hearts is another reason to play NEW Vegas as I have literally only 3 achievements to go and I'm very close to getting them

I told my friend "Hype" wasn't the right word to use. I meant like People Asking About. Talking about. Waiting For Any New Content. Talking about the tiny bits of info we get. Stuff like that.

i try to have low expectations for everything, all the time. like benny said (that george lopez show, not checkers) "If you expect the dog to bite you, youre gonna be happy when all he does is pee on your shoes"

im hoping itll be like PL though, since its supposed to be a national park. hopefully HH is a little more bethesda than obsidian, as in less talking and fetch quests and more...idk, GAMEPLAY.

oblivion always gets s*** for the C&P caves, but at least they actually have something to do.

EDIT: i think i lost my train of thought there...

It's been used in negative terms.

along with most other words in the english language, thats a terrible reason to censor something (not like there are any good reasons, but still)

I wouldn't call it hype theirs not much to really get excited about in terms of the content of the dlc we still have no concrete info on it besides the trophy descriptions which are very vague I think it's more people just anticipating any new info that we might get, although I am excited about a potential release since I've run out of things to due in new vegas so the only way for me to get back into it is to either get new content or put it down for about a year so I forget about everything.

Talking in an RPG isn't gameplay?
By the way, FO3 had 17 sidequests, a couple of which were fetch quest as well, FNV has a crapload of quests, some fetch quests and others not.
So if "more Bethesda, less Obsidian" means more pointless dungeon crawling and less quests, character and dialogue then hell no.
More Obsidian, always.
After all, it's an Obsidian game, not a Bethesda game, and it's a Black Isle franchise, not a Bethesda franchise. :teehee:

actually, its more beth's game than ob's. they own fallout now, its their engine, all ob really did is make their version of a bethesda fallout

and i never liked most of 3's missions either, but most the locations in that game were actually worth checking out

and no, talking isnt gameplay, not even in an rpg, its just talking

1. Doesn't that mean that Fallout 3 and New Vegas are Oblivion games?

2. Ah, so locations? If it's a national park I doubt that it will be a themepark of attractions to see. I don't really care though, if it's PL designed but not much too see then I don't really care.

3.
