Honest Opinion: Crysis 2 worth it on PC?

Post » Sat Sep 17, 2011 11:16 pm

Hello,

I play Crysis 2 currently on Xbox 360, however I am having a new high-gaming PC built tomorrow.

I love Crysis 2 despite the horrible support, lame patches, bugs/glitches etc but I want to know if it's worth getting the game for PC? I plan on playing it for a long time but I have not been keeping up with the current state of affairs of this game on the PC forum, for obvious reasons, and so I would like your honest opinion.

I'm a really good player on Xbox, 5th reboot for about 4 months now with a 4.2 KD (which would be higher if my brother didn't play on my account) so I want a better experience than on the console and given the opportunity to rank up over again and test my strength against the PC community.

So are the games laggy, on p2p/dedicated servers? Easy to find games? Is it hackers galore? I heard that you can get kicked from games if you're too good because they think you're cheating. I really honestly don't want to sound like a douche when I say this but I do play well and I really don't want to be kicked from lobbies because people can't take me beating them.

Please share your honest opinions.

Thank you.

Well, the problem is that this game is full of bug, at least on PC. As proof you can read this forum, you'll find a lot of bad stuff. Too many people complains about it and Crytek seems deaf. There are a lot of cheater as well. The multiplayer is quickly dying, simply because a lot of people can't even log in or gets disconnected after few minutes. Too many people complains, but Crytek is as deaf as an "indie software house". Even a little game like Magicka had a better support.

So, in conclusion, you should avoid Crysis 2 on PC, unless a new patch is ready.

@chaos I completely disagree with you
@Kazakage I also started playing crisis 2 on the X360 and then i built a gaming rig, after playing crisis on the PC for 1 week I sold my Xbox. I've played at least 10 hours in the past 2 weeks and have not encountered a single cheater. The problem here is there is a big gap between decent players and really good players and almost every time there is a really good player, he gets accused of hacking, when he's really not. When there are cheaters, it is plain obvious like speed hacking or aimbot, but if you "think someone MIGHT be cheating" 99.99% they are not and are probably just really good. There is so much more to Crysis 2 on the PC, I can tell you from experience - also playing around with Mods, custom levels by developers, the sandbox editor - there is just so much more than on consoles. I honestly haven't played another game since crisis 2 came out and it still is extremely addicting. There are a couple bugs, mostly related to non-gameplay issues - like levels getting reset and some lag when an 8vs8 game uses orbital strike, Most of the bugs i suspect are from the user end such as improperly over clocking gpu's which causes crashing. My point is I was in the same situation as you and I am upset with myself that i didn't discover PC gaming until just a few months ago. And crisis 2 has the best graphics in gaming thus far, period, anyone who says different is blind :P

+1
I've been disappointed visually with every game since C2, Alice MR was very nice until i discovered just how broken it is, Deus Ex is a shambles too, there's a new GTA4 type mod gonna be released soon for it so i'm hoping it's gonna be tweakable.
But yeah, right now C2 DX11 = No.1

Crysis and Crysis Warhead are still No. 1 for me. The frozen carrier in Warhead was epic, not even Crysis 2 tops that for graphics.
