Ok i want your guys honest opinion as i have my first playthrough with helping ncr and thought it was fun especially killing the weak legions members and weak legionnaires assassins. But i want to know is it fun killiing the NCR and is it more profitable since they all use guns unlike the legion. Btw i am a guns/energy weapons person. I personally dont see the point in a complete walk through with just melee and unarmed.

First off: make sure to do at least one playthrough with Melee/Unarmed and one with Explosives, it's really rather eye-opening.

Second: I haven't done a lot of cost comparisons, but my NCR/Legion characters tend to have relatively equally huge bags of caps. However, the clear winner on absolute monetary value is having license to kill both.

Third: Killing NCR is going to be more fun if you disagree with their faction and think they should leave the Mojave. Killing Legion will be more fun if you think they should leave. I personally think it's the most fun to play them both off each other and swoop in for an independent Vegas.

I see i personally dont like unarmed melee might be good to combine with guns persay for close quarters then. I was thinking of killing NCR this playthrought but you maybe right and be mor fun killing both now that i think about it >;-)

Well, note that playing them both doesn't necessarily involve killing both. It's a rare Independent Vegas playthrough that I don't wind up Idolized by both by the time I walk onto the Strip. This gives access to Caesar's Favor and the NCR Supply Cache, which are ways of getting stuff without having to do any of that "fighting" thing.

As for Melee/Unarmed....it's only really worth raising your skill in either above 50 if you intend to make them your primary combat skill. Don't knock them too much, I've got a Melee/Unarmed character who crits every other strike and 1HKO's Deathclaws. But if your primary is going to be Guns/Energy Weapons, then having some points in Melee means you can take advantage of the Combat Knife when things get a little too personal.

If you're gonna kill both on sight, I suggest waiting until Lvl 10 and you have a safe base to hide in.

+1 on trying a melee/unarmed playthrough at least once. I've got one character that can one shot deathclaws with a combat knife pretty regularly.

I have to say that killing Caesar's troops is more fun. There are not so many of them, but it just feels right. Every time you chop off a Legion fool's head you save possibly dozens of lives, win the freedom of dozens of women and children, erase obvious inferiorities from gene pool and bring the Wasteland one step closer to peace.
Killing NCR troops... Well they are well placed and there's many of them, but I don't really enjoy killing just-doing-my-job troopers, who are mostly in it to support their families, around the Wasteland. That's what separates savage mutant freaks like Caesar's Legion from civilized humans like myself. And besides, as a House supporter, every NCR trooper that survives the game is a few caps more for New Vegas economy.

One more vote for Unarmed characters. It's just way more fun than just picking off everyone from a distance. Another suggestion would be a Shocktrooper, which is my main ranged combat style. Instead of abusing the poor AI with sniper rifles, use short ranged automatic weapons to Run 'N Gun them.

As for armor, the lighter the better. Light armors tend to be more aesthetic and using light armor gives a fair challenge without making it too frustrating.

This is two different questions. I have a more enjoyable time when I kill Legion troops, but the most profitable would be to kill and loot both factions.

That's one reason I just don't go around killing NCR soldiers. A good portion of those men and women don't even want to be there (draft) and most if not all of them would rather be back home with their families and homesteads. I suppose I just sympathize with the poor bastards.

I hate the NCR as an organization, not the NCR's individual grunt soldiers. Siding with House utterly humiliates the NCR as a nation, which is exactly what I want to do.

Caesar's Legion on the other hand, they are a pleasure to kill.

Agreed, Lieutenant.
The NCR is useful to have around if you keep it on a leash. Like Cass says, the NCR just needs a good beating. Legion doing the beating means end of civilization, but thankfully there is Mr. House who in his person alone is more civilization than both Legion and NCR combined.

Mr. House is the best of all cakes:
- Vegas remains independent and becomes economic powerhouse
- Legion is destroyed
- NCR is kicked back, but survives
- Courier ensures people of the Mojave have good and safe lives.

Siding with any other takes at least one of the above-listed good things away. NCR means Vegas is annexed and taxed. Legion means everybody dies. Yes Man means the same thing as Mr. House but without Mr. House.
