An honest question for preordering

Post » Tue Aug 17, 2010 12:58 am

Its like this. I want to preorder Fallout: New Vegas, the collectors edition. Who doesn't here? But the thing is, I am a little picky on the preorder things. Not that they are such a big deal, but I do want the little bit of extra to get me started.

I wanted to originally get the Caravan pack, as the shotgun and leather is more conducive to the characters personality that I create. However, Wal-Mart doesn't sell the collectors edition. Oh well, no caravan pack, no big deal. So I go the bestbuy.com (as the closest best buy to me is over 50 miles away) and look up the prices and such for buying the Collectors edition with the Merc pack, since the grenade launcher would be more useful long term. However, I noticed that even if I was paying $15 for next day shipping, I would get the game 10 days after it was released. So for curiosities sake, I checked at amazon.com to see what their prices were. And for $10 less, I would get New Vegas the day it came out, but I would be getting the tribal pack, and I am not fond of raider stuff.

My question is this. Do I go ahead and wait the extra 10 days to get the grenade launcher and cool metal armor, or do I go ahead and get the tribal pack and ignore the tribal pack, or am I thinking too much into this?

And before you ask. I hate Gamestop, and refuse to purchase things from them, as they have been nothing but rude cheapskates to me.

My Gamestop are awesome. They know me, and we chat whenever I walk into the store and browse, even if I don't buy stuff I usually end up leavin happy. Also, I like the Vault stuff.

However, unless I can raise enough money to preorder the game soon, I'm gonna have to wait for a mod alternative. Wait the 10 days if you don't liek raider crap.

It comes down to a choice of importance... of course you could rent it while you wait for your preorder to come in, then just put in the code when it gets there.

Shoot, preorder at the closest big town and plan a road trip. Make it a fun thing. If you have a place in a bigger town to let you do it donate plasma that day... trip payed for. Make a thing of it.

No car, no way am I having needles stuck in me. I'm just wondering if I should wait the extra 10 days, or just say [censored] it and get the raider stuff. Since I can't get caravan, and I WILL NOT get the gamestop one.

Don't know what to tell you, then. Looks like you'll have to wait or take the pre-order bonus you don't want.

Personally I pre-ordered from Amazon. I lucked into a free Amazon Prime membership, so I get release date shipping for free. I really don't care about the pre-order bonuses, so that wasn't even a factor for me.

I think i'd personally go with Tribal, while u may not like it, in those 10 days im sure u can manage to get something better than the other stuff, beginning stuff is never good even if it is a nade launcher, im getting the steam pack because, im not sure but from what ive read we gotta validate it on steam anyway and its easiest to just get it there.

Steam u get caravan pack too if that helps, you could always install steam and get it from there.

If I were you I would probably get over my dispute with Gamestop and order it from them. But I suppose that won't happen. If you really dislike the Tribal pack, then you should just wait the ten days. It's just ten days, no big deal.

Why does everyone hate on Gamestop? The only reason I can find to dislike them is that they don't pay people enough for trading in games. You should probably be hating on McDonald's because they are making American children (who then keep eating as advlts) fat.

It seems somewhat possible that just because you don't like the people who work in your gamestop that doesn't mean all gamestops have rude employees and are bad. Especially since the individual stores are individually managed - like car dealerships or restaurants (excluding non-chains of course).

Me too, I like my Gamestop, I don't know where they got such a bad rep from.

As much as I dislike McDonald's it's not they who are making people fat. People (and especially parents) are perfectly capable of comprehending that McDonald's "food" is toxic. If people want to stop being unhealthy they can make a choice to eat better (real) food and get more exercise. As long as there is a demand McDonald's will thrive...just like drug dealers. :P

I'd just get it with the Tribal Pack, but that's just me. I'd way rather be playing it for those 10 days then listening to us talk about it, waiting for your copy to come with some different (albeit cooler) swag.

I got the tribal pack with release date shipping, but I would try Steam if you're dying to have the Caravan pack.

Honestly ive never had a bad meeting of gamestop. They have infact many times worked with me saving me money. With issues not their own fault. Besides the main topic point though.

Merc pack, I do not like. Grenade launcher seems too dangerous to start off with, wrong bounce, or aim, or enemy gets close to you to quick. Your dead as well. I personally went for the Classic pack, because I think if there was a pack that Obsidian were to make more powerful, would be the one in homage to their origins. I shall buy the others on eBay.

Tribal pack was my third favorite, mainly due to the fact that the broad machete is the weapon, they made melee newly powerful. So this could be a silent but deadly powered pack.

Caravan has a shotgun, shotguns were epic in 3, I doubt they were watered down. So this is a good choice as well.

So if you are not willing to do Gamestop, and unable to get the Col Ed with the Caravan, Tribal is not a bad choice overall.
