I hope Bethesda won't disappoint us ...

Post » Mon Jul 25, 2011 9:51 pm

I was browsing youtube and came across this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjbx6-KQoRg&NR=1
It's a demo of Oblivion with Tod Howard showing the NPC's but anyone who has Oblivion will know that this is all LIES! The NPC's don't have proper conversations and they don't "Drink potions" to make them better at certain things
I can't believe that Bethesda did this to us, don't get me wrong though, I still love Oblivion :3
but it made me wonder, will they do the same with Skyrim? The gameplay for Skyrim looks pretty amazing but will all that actually happen? (Badass dragons coming from the sky and lifting a giant off the ground and sending him flying ect.)
I hope Bethesda don't lie about all this again I mean, I hope they actually give us the gameplay they put in the demo for Skyrim :(
What are everyone else's views on this?

WHARSPARTA!!!

Yes, many of us at the forums remember that awesome footage, and I remember the many...many threads dedicated to the content taken out from that demo. The most popular was probably the Dunmer voice...

I would hope they learn from that. But I really doubt we will see anything like the dragon grabbing a giant or grabbing a guard and whipping him around like a T-Rex in the actual game. As for the rest of the demo, nothing I've seen so far looked completely unbelievable.

Of course, you mention criticism and are hailed with plenty of, "They know what to do, they always have, you have never ever had reason to worry"

To be fair, I've seen this thread before. Its is something worth noting though, people seem to forget what happened, what could happen again.

The failure of Lionhead Studios seems to be rubbing off on Bethesda.

No, they will not do this again, that's why they're being so secretive about info lately.

They cut the content in oblivion in half cuz' it was too big for one disc, i don't care how many discs it is as long as they give us the full thing.

I think they learned their lesson with Oblivion. But I guess we'll see when we get our hands on Skyrim.

This is exactly the reason they're aren't releasing that much info about skyrim... Then people claim they aren't showing enough. They can't win.

This, as well. They're probably waiting until they know for sure that something is going to be in the final game to announce it.

I never felt betrayed by the weakening of Radiant AI. The toned it down quite a lot but sometimes game makers over promise and have to cut something cool out. It's not like they gave us Daikatana.

incase you havent noticed... they only showed us maybe half of the demo, at the most... and we barely know THAT much about the game, despite it being only a few months away.

bethesda is staying pretty quiet and keeping a tight lid on things.

trust me, i think they've learn their lesson with oblivion, and dont plan on showing us ANYTHING that they arent 100% sure will be in the final game.

Do you think Bethesda actively lied about Oblivion, or that some things were cut from the game after the demo?

^ Very true. Beth have given us very little so far and have said there is no playable demo for us to try out before release. Understandable I guess with an open world game.
However, they are keeping things under wraps knowing the flame that will happen. Lol.

The number of thread here show the size of the build-up. It is way bigger than Fallout.
