I hope Bleak Barrow Falls isn't one of the better looking du

Post » Fri Sep 23, 2011 6:57 pm

I'm not worried about it, but I really hope they haven't shown us the most impressive dungeon/cave just to impress us, then when we get into the actual game and go exploring, despite what they said about dungeons being completely remodelled using level designers for uniqueness, they are more like Oblivion in that they are all very repetitive.
I am 99.9% sure they won't be [censored] like Oblivions, but I just want them to be at the same level or better than the one they keep showing us in all the demos.

There is most certainly going to be variation in the dungeon design... Every review and vid that I've seen from hands-on experiences has confirmed that there is a hell of a lot of variation in the types, sizes, and visual appeals in the dungeons available.

It was probably 99% finished for the alpha build they've been showing us. It fit well for the demo.

I'm sure there will be more like it/better than it :)

I really have no concerns about this. All the previews I have read have mentioned the variation in dungeon design.

I also highly doubt Bethesda would be silly enough to show of their best dungeon in a demo when they are trying hard not to give away to many details before release.

I'm sure there's some that are much better and that's saying a lot because Bleak Falls looks really cool/unique.

I was quite happy with BBF, and thought it had some nice design and variation :) That being said, considering Beth's PR strategy, it most certainly is one of their better dungeons.

 God save me from fools! Bleak Falls Barrow is 1 dungeon out of what 120-150 dungeons. Why would the best dungeon be at the beginning of the game? Todd and some other devs have said that some of the dungeons may take over 2 hours to complete. Besides, I thought the dungeon looked great.

I thought the exact same... Though this one seemed abit short, and we were told there are 1-2 hour dungeons... This one was like 15 min

I hope bleak falls barrow, and side quest, are just for the demo, and not in the game. Seeing ass we all know how to solve the puzzle, what happens when we cut the dude out of spider webs etc it ruins the surprise. We've all seen that demo 100s of times by now. I hope they just used it to show off the puzzles, level design etc.

That being said, I liked the overall look and experience, and do think dungeons will vary. That's not to say that we won't see common and repetitive dungeons. With 150+ somethings bound to look familiar and make us wonder, "wait wasn't I in here and hour ago?". Nothing like oblivions Deja vu though, thank god!

They will switch up puzzles/rooms probably but won't remove the entire dungeon. It looks pretty big from the outside anyway on top of that mountain. You can see the Dragon perched there waiting from the starting point of the demo. They aren't removing it.

I understand your apprehension, but I sincerely doubt the 'best' designed dungeon will be the first. As you stated, we already know the puzzle- more than likely that puzzle is to teach us how to do other, more complicated puzzles in other dungeons (a great way to tutorial that, btw). I have high hopes for the dungeons in Skyrim.

This, and I hope dungeons have cool things (or better) like the golden claw puzzle.. it would svck if they showed us one of their few puzzle elements (and honestly it wasn't even that great. Todd just pressed each ring twice..)

But even if half of the dungeons are cool like Bleak Falls, I'll still really enjoy it. Nothing will ever compare to Daggerfall dungeons though.. hours and hours just on one dungeon. So fun. :)

There were more than one with quest characters...also the one at Bruma, the one a Cheydenhal and the Great Gate later in the game...just because it's not in all of them. And the first gate in oblivion is far from the best...even with that idiot soldier that often runs into the lava and kills himself.

OT I heard a guy seeing a dungeon with a huge tree inside...said it looked epic! Don't the BFB will be the biggest or indeed the prettiest... (no I don't have a link, since there are SO many hands-on previews out there)
