I hope Dragon Mounts are in !

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 9:57 pm

Was reading some stuff on whether or not horses would be returning as mounts and got a funny feeling....what if
one of the big reveals in the coming months is the ability to have a dragon mount? Awesome?

Riding a dragon is virtually impossible, for many, many reasons.

No. Unless the game breaks lore. The only character in TES to ride a Dragon did so through extortion and met a bad end.

Yeah, thats true. If they pulled it of properly I would not complain, but I'll be fine without.

They could also pull off character urination "properly". There are some ideas that are just plain stupid and shouldn't make it into the game.

This is one of them.

No. No no. No.

Why? First you want to ride them. Then you want to be able to shot arrows and swing your sword from them. Then you want to controle them completely and rain fire down on your enemies, thus resulting in everyone tricking out their dragon so it fights better instead of them. Bandits no longer have their full dedera armor to guard against your dragon mounts. For the love of bandits everywhere, say no to dragon mounts.

The only Dragon ally we will have -as far as we know- is one that we force to do our bidding by commanding him by using his true name in draconic. Against his will. And we can only do this because we are a Dragonborn. Now, if we were able to use them as mounts why not also use this guy as a mount? I think they would have mentioned that.
Besides, riding a dragon would just look unrealistic and stupid (like in WoW) unless they really put some work into it. Like I hope they do with horses/whatever mounts will be.

I personally do not want Dragon mounts.

Why so offensive just because I say I would not mind if it is done in a way that makes sense in the game?

Because you can apply that concept to literally any idea ever. It doesn't add anything to the discussion whatsoever unless you clarify how implementing it "properly" would work. As such, your post had no substance and irritated me.

It is misleading, or at least it was misleading. Please don't do things like that in the future.

As for the topic, I'm not interested in draconic mounts. It was a great feature in Drakan: Order of the Flame but I don't think it would fit well in to Skyrim, at least not as a playable feature.

If there are dragon mounts (that luckily, WON'T be in - the guys of Bethesda are intelligent people) I would think twice before buying the game.

Dude, read some lore before posting stupid poles. Dragons are the bad guys in the game. You are a dragon hunter. Seriously, I don't understand why people keep on asking this.

I say nay, based on solely lore. If you are the Dovakhiin it would make even less sense, considering you are the slayer of dragons. Dragon riding has always been a fantasy nerdgasm of epic proportions, but it simply would not work in Skyrim.

I would have to say no. I would like to see Bethesda ensure that the horse mounts are perfected for skyrim--perhaps with addtional mounted combat, fluid mounts and dismounts, and better overall horse mechanics--before putting effort into implementing dragon mounts.

With that said, even if they accomplished all that, I still wouldn't want mountable dragons in the game--but thats just me.

I only voted yes because the idea is cool, but its not an option in the game...get the Game Informer issue or look it up information on it. The dragons are merely to fight against and interact with to gain powers. However, I would think it would be interesting to meet dragon that could talk in the native tongue that is Tamriel and be an ally that helps you for a while. Let''s say Alduin ambushes the alliance that you have with the dragon and that dragon sacrifices itself to let you escape.

I voted no. It's against the lore and wouldn't make sense.

Someone is no doubt going to mod it in at some point though and that is your best shot at getting a dragon mount.

I care more about good implementation of horses and horse combat. The fact that I had to dismount every time I saw an enemy annoyed so much that I used fast travel mainly to avoid such situations. That said, if they managed to pull it off as something very special, riding a dragon could be cool.
