i hope we see some new weapons...

Staffs usable for bashing once they are out of charge
spears, pikes
throwable weapons (stars, knives etc.)
*snip*

The problem I could see with scythes in a TES game is that it simply wouldn't look right. In order to strike with a scythe requires it to be turned based on the angle of the attack, which to my knowledge, just doesn't sit well with TES animations. :/

I'd like to see:

Spears (Obviously need to return or Bethesda's going to have to deal with so many angry nerds)
Pikes, halberds, poleaxes, other polearms
*snip*

Crossbows, halberds, pikes and spears would be awesome.

The mighty one man pike formation. Huzzah! Because playing a "300 style" phalanx makes more sense when you're on your own. Would probably be most useful against those dragons.

I'd like to see exotic weapons like the falx, war scythe and such. Spears, crossbows, katanas and throwable weapons although I'm ninja'd on this about a zillion times.

Well, I want atleast a proper halberd so I can feel like proper heavy Knight controlling the battlefield!

Also a spear so I have a cheap thing to practice using polearms at the start of the game.

If that won't happen (which might be very likely), I'll just use some doublehanded sword.

Certainly polearms and more ranged weapons need to be introduced.

I never understood why bows were the only ranged weapons. Crossbows, throwing spears/knives/axes are a must. Particularly spears and axes if we're assuming Skyrim is a Nordic(Viking) inspired community as the lore suggests.

And we'll need polearms to keep them Dragons at a reasonable distance =/

I take it you haven't played anything before Oblivion?

We used to have nice things like crossbows and throwing knives, throwing stars, but then Bethesda looked down and whispered "No."

Perhaps some simple, mundane descriptors would be nice to have?
You know, like 'rusty,' 'damaged,' 'sharp,' 'serrated,' 'balanced,' 'heavy,' etc...

No I haven't, I just picked up Oblivion a few months ago after playing Warband for a while. They should probably borrow some ideas from Warband. Like I see you have in your latest post =)

Yupyup, M&B is freakin wiz.

You should definitely give Morrowind a shot. :D
Also, if you can do a game with OHDEARGODDATED graphics, give Daggerfall a shot, too. :D

I hope we see crossbows, and spears, and all the weapons taken out from Morrowind and it's predecessors.

I just want to see more than we had in oblivion. There were a handful of weapons, then they made them out of each material. There weren't any unique (other than artifacts) weapons.
So I'd like to see more than just long sword, short sword, claymore, dagger for bladed weapons. Maybe there could be a few variations of each? Like 2-3 different iron longswords, variation is always good. I'd also like to see more materials, so much was cut out of Morrowind into Oblivion. Stalhrim fits perfectly, but we really need a few more material types.

Even if they didn't add more weapon variations, such as katanas and dia-katanas, I'd at least be happy if they added weapon variants. I for one want my character to be unique.

We did see some concept art with a Halberd in it. This is nowhere near confirmation of course, but it does hint that polearms make a return.

It's more logical to ask for templates. As soon as they exist, modders can use them. Two that I have on my mind (other than Morrowind standarts) are flails and click-hold-to-fire weapons.I do NOT want to see guns in the game, but I'd like to have the template in the CS.Possibly this could also be used for melee weapons like Ripper from Fallout,or there was a Daedric Sawblade mod.Note that I want these as MODS.

Something could be added like a hand cannon... shoots one pellet, then you can use it as a club? That'd fit with the theme.

Well, I'm more interested in seeing varieties in the same weapon class. So not just the Rusty Steel Longsword, Steel Longsword, Fine Steel Longsword; but rather seeing different designs as well (so the game doesn't look like one blacksmith made all the weapons in the world).

I know you meant that, but descriptors are nice for the fact that they typically imply some statistical modification to the weapon.
Of course, variety in design is good, too.
Hell, slap the two together.

I agree, that's an absolute must for the longevity of the game. Armors too. That stats don't even have to be all that different, just some eyecandy. Hopefully with the crafting skill you can work on different templates/designs. Something like a mix-and-match would be super cool. Take the blade from one sword, the hilt off another, and the crossguard off a third sword, make it unique.

I agree, that variety of nord weapons video was pretty neat Miltiades. Whether Bethesda is able to pull that off or not for Skyrim I guess we'll have to wait and see, but remember they still have to work on every other aspect of the game at the same time. That's the problem right there.
