Hope to see a vast array of Books

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 7:40 am

Hello everyone, im hoping that there will be a vast array of books and tomes, with detailed and unique covers, like the oblivion book skins mod, i love collecting books and arranging them in my lair, and this time i hope they are all unique, i thought it was so stupid on oblivion that like 75 books all looked the same with the same covers blank and plain and a few types of ones were cool well meh, the coolest looking books were the ''tome of unlife'' ''akaviri diary'' and ''the last king of the ayleids'' so who all agrees that there should be much more lore related books and better books covers as well as a much bigger selection of necromantic tomes, i love books that have to do with dark arts, oh and it would be cool if some how we could get a copy of the ''mysterium xarxes'' obviously not the real one cause it was destroyed (i think) but a forged or fake?

OMG Yes, we can already see that there will be more Lore in this game - I hope they stuff tons of it into books spread around the land.

I know this sounds totally Lazy, but would also be awesome would be books that come with an Audio track option. I imagine exploring the land, harvesting reagents for potions and such while listening to Skyrim characters read tales of Lore back to me as I adventure around. I guess it stems from a desire to absorb the lore as much in-game as while modding on an iPod, and while I love reading books, I don't re-read them many times but would enjoy hearing them repeatedly while playing or modding.

To much of a stretch for 2011, I'll take as much lore as they have time to stuff into the game, whoever it's delivered. :)

One more by this land history and ancient lore, with dwemers early samping all the region there should be tons of thongs to learn do and explore, lore or no lore wise.
And books are one of the greatest part in TES.
I hope not only to see old books back but also may new ones. And please not only in one library.
Discovering books in dungeons or hidden places are as valuable to me than gold or items, especially that most items will be sold anyway.

Hell yes. Books are an integral part of the Elder Scrolls experience, not to mention giving a deep sense of cultural immersion in the game's setting. I think that's one of the reason's Morrowind's lore is so well received, and people seem a little more disapointed with Oblivions. In Oblivion, a lot of the books from Morrowind were added, with the rest of the new ones mostly being generic tomes describing Tamriel instead of Cyrodil. It just meant that players couldn't get such a good grasp on the people and mythos of Cyrodil as they did Vardenfall and Morrowind. If Skyrim could have vast swaths of literature too, it would go leaps and bounds towards rectifying the issue.

Oh hell yes. Perhaps have an interface, where if you interact with the bookshelf, a menu will pop up, and ask if you want to store items internally in the shelves at the bottom (at which point you go to the regular inventory screen for using a container), or stack books on the shelves. If you stack the books, it would automatically compile them on the shelf in order of size or something. Maybe alphabetically. Not really important either way. What is important is a method for players to create libraries without being induced into murderous rage by frustration.

I think there's mods for this, so having it built in to Skyrim would be a godsend. Especially for console players, who live through hell on that front anyway.

Whenever I play a mage, it's almost a given that I will be an avid book collector. Love that aspect of TES. I have a Telvanni mage in Morrowind who has a good library now, and I can just sit there and read. The mod I use is Stuporstar's Uvirith's Legacy, and it has a library in it, with a librarian. You give the book to the librarian, and he puts it on the shelf for you. So, as your collection grows, the shelves fill up. Here are screenshots: http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l584/Rivendell139/Morrowind2010-10-1018-49-21-14.jpg http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l584/Rivendell139/Morrowind2010-10-1018-49-02-02.jpg. It would be great if this kind of thing could be done in the vanilla game, so everyone could do it.

yeah arranging books and various items was my obsession, i would spend they entire day arranging stuff for months im quite articulate when it comes to the theme of my lair, and enjoy it just as much as adventuring in the game, and devote an open eye constantly searching for something that would suit my living quarters

EDIT: also what i hope too see is daedric books, dark magical tomes, that not only grant you powerful spells, but also make a fine addition to your lair

I completely agree. I've always wanted to do a good book collection on one of my playthroughs. Being on consoles I lack the mods necessary to make arranging them easier. I hope Skyrim introduces a built in system for that type of thing. It would be extremely satisfying to had one of every book in the land in a personal library, then have a save of the retired hero for Lore purposes.

I've always loved to read the lore of Vvardenfell and Cyrodiil. And I always collect the books in the big house in Skingrad.

I hope there's an improvement on how items can be placed in game. If it wasn't such a pain in the butt, the mods wouldn't be necessary. It takes hours to place books on shelves in Oblivion. Frustrating.

I'd like to see more books in the game. TES lore has always fascinated me, but I've never really read into it because it's just so much information to take in and I wouldn't know where to start. Having books to divide and classify the information would be nice.

It'd be cool to see bookshelves act as storage containers for books. You could select the bookshelf, load it full of books, and the game would automatically alphabetize them for you. You could then simply select a book off the shelf by clicking on it, read it, then place it back on the shelf and have the game put it back in the right spot.
