Hopeful Brink Features

Post » Wed Jun 02, 2010 10:51 pm

I was thinking it would be cool if it had like Last Kill cam like COD:MW2, Theater and Screenshot like in Halo, or Tags like in COD:MW2

(before anyone want to post some ass statement, this is just a wish list)

It doesn't, it doesn't and it doesn't.

Only PC will be able to record video and take screenshots, either through in-game demo recording or third party software.

Seems a bit late to be wanting any of these features, the game is only 1 - 2 months away.

What the hell are tags? Also, too much god.
And obviously PC is gonna have record and screenshots. They have been in FPS before Black Ops you know.

And there are no kill cams because players get downed.

There isn't really a point in having final kill cam in a team based game.
Dunno bout clan tags, on pc you can jsut change your steam name though.

Its more likely to be 3-4 months or more, but your point is valid anyway.

Just so you know, any console can be hooked up to an appropriate pc and recorded. Not a feature within the console. But it is do-able.

I would like to see STATS. And lots of them, similar like you have for example in Alien Swarm but much better. Your weapon stats, map stats, player vs player stats, death stats, most kills/deaths in a row, etc, you get the idea. Btw I like stats :)

Stats don't fit in this game. Certainly not KDR. The only stats I would like to see are the team bases ones like amount of buffs, amount of completed objectives, ...

Same goes for killcams, it's impossible since you don't die when you're out of health, you stay incapacitated on the ground waiting for a medic or joining the next respawn wave.

I agree, I dont care about KDR to be honest, but something like TF2 has, longest life, most damage/buff/heal in one life or something that shows how good your teamplay is, favourite weapons, longest distance kill, etc, just some creative stats, not as to show and brag, but just to keep it interesting, you can come up with so many interesting facts, not only kills

in that case, I agree with you. Maybe just stats and no leaderboards.

I think Brink is getting alot of attention is because it is trying to achieve what COD hasn't or will not achieve like omitting K/D, Stats, Kill Cam and such. Most of the guys in my gaming clan are going to playing Brink....can't wait!

I'd say it gets more attention because it's a game that is nice to people, instead of a game that is a complete bastard.

I agree 100%. It comes down to the intent of the developers and why the do what they do. COD is develop for completitve play not team play and it makes gamers obsessive with K/D and wanting to win. Where Brink is developed for team play and gamers to have a good time; thereby, removing K/D, Stats and such; thereby, removing the obession with K/D.

I'm kind a speaking for myself, but I think you'll easily make friends in Brink when compared to other shooters. Atleast on PC, I don't know how this will work out on consoles because it's pretty much microphone only. (I never used microphones on consoles so I don't know if it's easier than a keyboard when it comes to making friends)

I have Xbox 360 and the functionality is simple and easy...you like to meet someone you send FR (Friend Request) and it is up to the person to accept or deny. However, develop relationships on Xbox Live can be a different matter...It is hard to make friends when you play competitive games like COD versus other games that are well not COD. I have many guys in my clan who play COD and who are really nice guys, but to get these nice guys you have to put of with the abuse of many COD gamers compared to most games. I found reruiting on R6V2 to better then COD. So I think it comes down to what game you play. I personally think Brink will be a great source for nice guys. Actually most of my clan members (the more recent ones) are actually coming from the Brink and Splash Damage Board and all of them are nice guys...that is why I am here.

Anyone else just hate kill cam because it gives away your position/technique?

I do. But, spectator mode does this as well (if there's a spectator mode at all). I guess you mean giving away locations during a match rather than spectating to learn from others, without actually playing.

Me, Kill-cam In my opinions svcks majorly. I could have the most awesome spot for covering the flag/objective. One kill and it's gotta move. The second I could play COD:BO in a mode without kill-cam I did.

Yes I do too Kill-Cams are worthless in anything team and objective based.

Also to the OP no tags (thank god I hated those) your character is your tag I would say. No ingame theater to my knowledge and no ingame screen shot thingy to my knowledge.

IMO, I think tags are fine, it gives people who want to be in a clan the ability to have a tag in front of their names. But I rekon instead of removing tags completely from a game, there should be an option to turn seeing them off.

Yes, I am aware of this, but to do so, it requires a PC, so PC's are still the only ones who can record.

True. You just made it sound like a consoler could never record their Brink game if they really wanted to

They can, but they would require a pc to run the visuals through or a modded console with a capture card.

besides, he was asking for a theater mode, so even if consoles could record through a PC, it's irrelevant.
