hoping for comparison screens soon...

I'm doubting my pc will be able to run this beast... I have a top notch graphics card (geforece 570 GTX) but my cpu and ram hold my system back-- 4gig ddr2 and only a 2.4ghz quad core).
That being said, I really hope beth posts some screenshots of the xbox version right next to an identical shot of the pc version (on max) so we can see the difference.
The Xbox is quite dated at this point so I'm worried that it won't look nearly as good, this wasn't the case with oblivion as the xbox was rather new back then, but now.... I dunno I just don't see it being capable of running a game looking as good as the shots they've posted so far.

I'm thinking that any PC that runs Oblivion with most of the best graphics mods and maybe a more contemporary CPU at the time (11.11.11) would run Skyrim well.

You have to take into account that it has to run on the consoles too.

true that it has to run on consoles but they can always dial back tons of graphical options from the console version-- make it have far less shadowing, no AA, closer draw distance, lower poly models, etc etc etc
and thats what I want to know if they are doing, because if they do make the console version look bad (compared to pc version) then ya, I'd rather play it on pc

It already looks like they're lowering the AA from the screenshots i've seen so far.

Im interested to know what a high end cpu and ram speed would be to you, considering that the game may not be 64bit.

Xbox 360 doesn't have AA.

I have my doubts that the game will be all much more resource consuming than Oblivion.

high end cpu, probably one of those new i7 6-core's @ 3.3ghz or higher
high end ram - 12gig + of ddr3

why would they not make it 64bit? thats just silly, that would pretty much alientate 95% of all people with windows 7 since that comes 64bit w/ option of choose 32 if you want.

a 570 gtx is one of the best graphics cards so your in the clear there but a 2.4 ghz quad core is fine. It will average out to be about 3 ghz which is plenty. However, your ram will hold you back. You can upgrade to about 8 gb of ram for pretty cheap, should only cost you about 150 dollars. Your pretty much in the clear.

I built a new desktop last week only because I had the extra money and I really wanted to build it and play Skyrim on it instead. My laptop could play it perfectly also but I want to be able to run Skyrim on a multi-display if I wanted to.

I'm running:

3-way SLI 580 gtx which is 1.5 gb graphical memory for each graphics card. It roughly evens out to about 5 gb. It has 4.5 gb hard graphical memory but the SLI makes it more about 5 gb.
24 GB ram
3.4 ghz i7
I have 7 fans in my case and a liquid cooled CPU

That would kick ass! I mean the screens look excellent, if they are able to achieve that kind of quality with system req's close to oblivions then holy crap!

I plan on updating the ram, the max my system can take is 8. I just don't have the extra cash atm.

Yeah, I capped it at 8 because I assumed your motherboard was older. I normally advise people to go with 12 gb now a days if their motherboard supports it. I run 24 gb only because I like to overkill my games and I can afford to build insane systems because I own my own custom computer business.

Edit: Btw, welcome to the forums Dugahst. Here, have a http://images.uesp.net//c/c4/Fishystick.jpg.

what?!? you probably can run skyrim, oblivion and morrowind at the same time with your rig and there would still be some power left xD
exaggerating a bit but you certainly can run skyrim maxed out with 60+ fps...no need to worry :)
