Hoping for a single suit of Daedric Armor.

Post » Sat Feb 12, 2011 4:24 am

I hope that daedric armor is rare, so rare that only a single suit can be obtained and it's pieces are spread thin across the game. I would love to get that feeling that ive found every single piece, and assembled an entire suit of daedric armor. What are your thoughts and feelings about this?

Yes i liked this, in Morrowind it was almost impossible to get a full set of Daedric without killing Divayth Fyr.

Morrowind way was not good. You knew where the pieces were.
Daggerfall way was almost right, but I don't think I've gatherred a full deadric OR silver armour to this day, and I've played it almost from day one. Gotta admit that the feeling of succes when finding a piece was something you never get from newer games.

My suggestion is: rare, I mean REALLY rare to find daedric in random loot, and some pieces scattered around in hard to find places. Like artifact locations that are hand placed, but the game randomizes the items fro every play through. I've said aboutthis before: 1000 hand placed locations, 100 items randomized in them. No play through is the same, they FEEL hand placed, and you get a great feeling when you actually find something.

I want one set available (without killing Diviath Fyr (so therefor two)), but not JUST two set:
- 3 daedric left pauldrons
- 2 daedric right pauldrons
- 3 daedric graeves
- 1 daedric cuirass (the one on some god-like npc (like fyr) you'll requirre an expansion to get an entire set
- 3 etc

so I want it kinda like MW....

I want daedric armor rarer than oblivion not that rare though.

Maybe a rare set with a different colour pallet and design. Perhaps that once belonged to one the greatest of Mehrunes Dagons Valkynaz's that some great Nord warrior retrieved whilst closing an oblivion gate during the crises, that his follower's upon his death took different pieces and made off with them, so you have to gather them and give them to his descendant or choose to keep them/incur the anger/wrath of said descendant.

All sounds very Nights of the Nine-esque on second read, aw well... :whistling:

Meh....who cares.

Im going straight for the glass myself ; )

On topic- I agree that there should be epic, rare, well hidden, randomized yet hand picked loot scattered around like suggested, so I guess in the end I do agree. But I dont know that it should necessarily be daedric that is so well hidden. Personally, Id rather see something new.

If you want one, you should be able to find one. perhaps there could be Unique versions of every armor, adding 5-10 % more resistance than the "common" version of the armor?

I agree, deadric armor should be EPIC, something you have to work for. I'm in favor of 1 or 2 sets only, hand placed... I honestly hate random high level loot in RPG's

Dont agree with the 'effect' but totally agree on unique armor pieces for every type, that are hard to fully assemble (aka find all the pieces). A dragon born/slayer version of each maybe? Either way that would be fun and gives players of each type something to strive for rather than only wearers of one armor type.

A sounds good. unique, but not enchanted though. More resistant and higher health, with a slightly different appearance.

Having ultra-rare endgame armor does add a lot of replay, so that's nice. But do make finding it random, instead of having pieces scattered always in the same place, maybe a 1% chance from certain enemy types and chests.

There should be a "Fine" set of every armor/weapons in the game which has a slightly altered design as well as better stats (comparable to the next higher tier of gear). The "Fine" set should be unique (i.e. hand-placed).

Also, Daedric and Glass armor should be very rare, and no random enemies should ever have it, period. If you want Daedric or Glass armor you should have to complete quests, kill very high level enemies, or search the deepest recesses of a well hidden and long forgotton tomb/cave/ruin/etc.

Don't know about a single suit, but it certainly needs to be much rarer than it was in Oblivion.

In Oblivion there was a Daedric Invasion occuring so the fact that Daedric Armor could easily be found is believable to me although the amount of it in Cyrodiil was still a bit much for my taste. Why shouldn't there have been tons of Daedric Armor available in the planes of Oblivion?

A single suit? Hell no. I'd want AT LEAST five sets of Daedric armor. I really dislike how rare it is in Morrowind, and it was too common to matter in Oblivion. Somewhere in between. Hopefully armor won't level with the player like it did in Oblivion, in the sense that it was impossible to see Daedric armor before level 20.

It made sense that there was a bunch of it in Oblivion. With an Oblivion Invasion going on, how could there not be an abundance of it?

Doesn't personally matter to me - that stuff's ugly! :D

(Similarly, I've never worn power armor in FO3 or FO:NV. It's got no style.)

I like the way Morrowind did it. But damnit, include the pauldrons in the standard game (without having to murder one of my favourite npc's (or disintegrate armour and pickpocket)).

Yeah I think daedric armour should be pretty rare.

In Oblivion once you passed level 30, every maurader in the game wears daedric armour and wields daedric longswords and claymores. <_<

Lore-wise, there shouldn't really be any available there though. The "daedric armor" worn by the invading dremora isn't really armor but actually their skin, and the fact that it could be looted in some instances in OB was probably just an oversight.. From one of the in-game books:

Regarding Daedric Armors and Weapons, these items are made from raw ebony, which has been refined using the craft and magical substances of the lesser minions of Oblivion. The process is not a pleasant one for the Daedra involved, and these items retain echoes of preternaturally prolonged suffering endured during manufacture. Daedric Armors and Weapons are the most rare and expensive armaments known in Tamriel.

Back on-topic, I'd really like if it was almost as rare as in MW, possibly 2 sets or so though with various ways of procuring it, such as for example at the bottom of the hardest dungeons, end of difficult puzzles and mazes, to be stolen from rich nobles etc. I also hope they have differing helmets as in MW, think there were 3 or so different models to collect iirc? Another option would of course be to let us collect all the materials and have some legendary blacksmith and enchanter create say a headpiece for us ^^

I want there to be perhaps two pieces of daedric armor per daedra lord you can do quests for. You can get some armor from doing quests, other pieces from buying them from the Mages Guild.

I really hope for this too. Although, maybe up to 3 sets. It was stupidly easy to find in Oblivion, and ultra hard to find in Morrowind. I want it like Morrowinds style, but not that hard. There should be 2 or 3 of each piece, spread around the world.
