So, aye, after reinstalling the windows-7 oriented Daggerfall file from UESP, I've discovered that when I mount my horse, it does an insane amount of "clip-clops" instead of the good old two-paced one. Next to that, it neighs like it's never going to see tomorrow.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
