So i was riding my horse and came upon a cave, i got off the horse and went in. After clearing the cave i came out and was immediately attacked by two wolves. After killing them i looked around and could not find my horse. Did the wolves kill my horse?

Fast travel to a town. If your horse is still alive it will show up there.

Just fast traveled and no luck. horse is dead. I guess horse can die if you leave it unattended while in caves. I find that a horrible idea. when im riding and i discover a cave i usually want to go in.... not to mention
