A long time ago (day before yesterday, I think) I was in a bit of a hurry to get home to Riften. It occurred to me that I had left a TV dinner in the oven at Honeyside. Anyway, I left walked out of Markarth city gate, jumped on my horse and made it back to Riften in just over six hours gametime. When I got home, I realized that nobody in Riften (including me) had ever heard of TV dinners, and in any case, I don't even HAVE an oven in Honeyside... in fact, I currently don't even OWN Honeyside...
In any case, it started me wondering how much fun there might be in a "Cannonball Run" style of horserace in Skyrim. For those of you unfamiliar with the Cannonball Run, it is essentially a (perhaps illegal) race held every year from New York to Los Angeles.
Imagine if you will, the brave Skyrim Cannonball Run jockey, sitting astride his steed in front of the main gait at Whiterun. At precisely 6am game time, he spurs his trusty mount and begins a mad dash to Falkreath (spriggans be damned), then Markarth (out of the way forsworn scum!), and from there Solitude (One side, damnable wedding guests!). On then to Morthal, Dawnstar, and Winterhold dodging wolves, bear, and the occasional frost troll!
South then to Riften, (Look out Fort Green wall) and then through Ivarstead and back at last to Whiterun.
At each stop along the way, he has kept track of his time of arrival and departure, and in the end adds up his total traveling time which he then submits as his entry time, with winner being inducted into the Skyrim Cannonball Run Hall of Fame.
Sound like fun?
P.S. It could also be made into a poker run
