I have tried time and time again to set my horse Essential

setessential 0010982B 1

I then click on my horse and type isessential but it says 0.00 so my horse is NOT Essential

I am using the Base ID.

Why not use this mod?

If you don't want to use mods, have you tried the reference ID instead of the base ID?

One Wikia says the BaseID is 00109e3d another Wikia says its 0010982B

the RefID says 00068d74 but my horse RefID is ff001652

Using Console Command how do I get BaseID of my horse?

Doing "Help Horse" in the Console Command I get a big list of horses but I can't datermin which horse is mine

I am not sure, but I recommend using the mod because using the console over and over will do funny things to your save.

so theres no way to look up the BaseID through the RefID?

You might try this: Go to this page: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Horses%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0Part way down is a list of purchasable horses that lists the base and ref ids for them. I hope that might help.

If that doesn't work, you might try a different approach. Open the console and click on your horse to bring up their refid. Then type in the command:

ModAV Health 10000

That command will give the horse an extra 10K hitpoints rendering the horse pretty close to essential.
