Horse Sound Bug?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:32 am

Heya,

Been playing Daggerfall these days, I did some quests for the Fighter's Guild to raise enough cash to buy a horse.

When I finally mounted it and tried to ride it, the sound was rly messed up and seemed like broken and looping.
When I got on foot I could finally hear the normal "trot" sound but it kept looping even when I was walking.

Even after several restarts (using latest version of Dosbox) it still gave the same messed up sound.

Is there a way to fix this? =S

Thanks in advance!

cheers!

If you call up the Travel menu while the horse is MOVING (meaning the trot sound will be playing), it'll be stuck on you until you go into another area. :(

Same thing when calling the map while the horse is moving.

Daggerfall's horses are evil.
Not only they continue to trot while you are not riding them, but they can also be folded in 8 to fit in your backpack.

I've experienced it too. and getting back on your horse again is a bad mistake. but I did find saveing and reloading works too to get it to stop.

Ok atm I just ignore the sound everytime I get on the horse :brokencomputer: .

When I was recording a bit with frapps I got a bit of lag but remarkably enough the lag caused the horse sound to be normal. It played the trot sound perfectly synced with the screen without any messy sounds.

Does anyone know if the horse sound is better when you play on a lower speed/reflex lvl (most of the people choose the highest otherwhise it rly goes slow).

cheers!

When I used to play it on Win98 it would play the trot sound but the horse would neigh like crazy, which just about drives you insane.

Then I played it on a "retro" PC for a while (200Mhz) in Win 98 and it would play fine.

In DOSbox I just get the endless neighing over and over.

I suppose the only way to really fix it would be to go buy a P90 with Win 95.
