Horse - STAY!

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 11:12 am

Seriously, how hard would it be to add a Stay command for Horses? I am so over re-loading Saves because Frost (Horse) decides to join in fights where I am taking on hard mobs. I try and dismount the Horse several hundred yards away from where I know an encounter will take place (Dragons, events, etc.) yet the dumb creature still charges head on into frontal fire damage or takes arrows in his hind from ranged attackers.

I am trying my hardest to roleplay this disaster with Horses and re-load to keep Frosty. But enough is enough.

Give us a STAY command or at least the ability to leave the Horse at our home (or in a City Stable.)

Thanks for reading.

YES! Jesus.

Again most likely a mod will come along that fixes this, but I'm lucky cause I play on PC...

There was a great mod for oblivion with a summonable horse - when you needed it there is was, then it went away when you got off it. Perfect. I hate the fact that the horse follows you whenever you fast travel, of course, it would also svck to have it stay wherever you left because I would forget and have horses stranded all over skyrim.

For this very reason I haven't bought a horse ever. Only time I used one was when I killed a bandit camp and took the horse from them. I quickly realized that between no ability to back up, slow mounting and dismounting and the damn thing running off trying to fight anything even remotely close I realized I'll run or fast travel where I need to go. If the only horse I can get is going to be treated like it's a war horse then give me the ability to put armor on it, if I can't put armor on it then let me tie it up where I want. It's really that simple.

This actually bugged me enough that I eventually stopped trying to use horses.

Horses need to be like in Red Dead Redemption. whistle when you need it. Otherwise, piss off and eat some grass.

When the CK comes out I'll try to spare some time and script http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=32926 for Skyrim too.

I didnt even ride Shadowmere once, and I have no idea where she is. Certainly not where I left her. I figured that she would be stabled when I went to another town, but she wasn't.

I'm normally not one to complain about immersion breaking, but when I'm trying to be all heroic and my horse is all "herp derp I'm either going to get in a bears face or run 500 yards into the woods so you can't find me", thats just too much.

Fix this, bethesda.
