Horseback Combat

Would it be worth it to incorporate this?

I definitely think horseback combat would be worth it. Just imagine galloping towards your target with your sword ready to swing or chasing someone on your horse with your bow.

Hmmm, I'm not so sure. It would be awesome if they got horse physics and behavior working properly, asking for horse combat seems a but too much ^^'

Which is definitely not to say I wouldn't like it or that I don't think it's gonna happen down the line. I just don't think it's really all that possible at this point. At the GI interview, Howard mentioned something about them still working around horse mechanics and trying to implement them in a satisfactory manner.

I would love it. But only if they got it right.

I didn't like putting my horse in danger in Oblivion - so I don't think I'd want to do horseback combat personally (that's not to say that I'm against the idea per se though! Greatly depending on implementation of course, I'd rather not have it than have it done badly) - I'd rather they ran away and then came back when called/whistled.

If it was done well it would be awesome. I think there should also be a slight damage multiplier (similar to sneak attacks) based on how quickly your horse is moving at strike.

This is a good point. Nothing enraged me more in OB than spending 5000 gold on the black horse of Cheydinnhal(spelling?) simply to have it ravaged by a bear when I wasn't on it. Mind you it didn't happen too frequently and I did play on a higher than normal difficulty. I also agree with you on the horse whistle system, something similar to Red Dead Redemption.

Nah, i never like to rely on horses for combat or to have to kill them myself in combat. Leave the horses out of it imo.

Better than RdR and on par with Mount and Blade and we have a deal.

No Oblivion horse was worthwhile aside from Shadowmere. That horse owned people, couldn't die, and you could store your stuff on her like a pack horse. Hopefully Bethesda saw how people used that stuff and is trying to implement an awesome horse system in Skyrim.

Also, I know this is getting repetitive, but it's still perfect. Look at AC Brotherhood for horse mechanics. Nuff said.

I do believe Todd Howard stated something about him not wanting horses to just be jeeps you ride into battle. Basically saying they want to implement horse combat, but need to tweak it.

There's a mod for Oblivion that changes the fighting style alot (For the better), and adds mounted combat in. Towards the end, about 4:25 in, it shows mounted combat. He only shows a little bit of it though, and he's doing is at a low speed. It's alot more fun (and deadly) to run past someone while at a full gallop, lean over and slice the person in half or decapitate them as you pass. The faster the horse is moving, the more damage it does.

Only after they implement the following:

Levitation
Spears
Spell making
Scroll enchanting
NPC who can fall for your character
Merchants guild
Crossbows
Bankai
six
Revolvers
Angels
Asain chicks

Yeah, then you can get horse riding

I don't think we're going to have mounted combat. I think we'll be able to ride mounts, but no combat.

With what seems to be very little wide open flat land (they seems to be a much larger focus on verticality that previous games), I don't see horse combat as viable (or very fun) option. I would even go so far as to say I don't want there to be mounts at all since I don't think the could do them very well in this game.

This. but this has been discussed so many damn times  todd has mentioned they are trying.

Revolvers? Really?

I hate being the purist around here, and I agree with most of your points, though I'd refrain on angels and I'd extend asian chicks to asian RACE, but I really don't like the idea of gunpowder. I knows it's not lore breaking or anything, and I hate it when people say something must not be done "FOR THE MIGHTY SAKE OF AVOIDANCE OF LORE BENDING", but I always fail to see how pushing technology forward in a series and dropping guns around would ever benefit a fantasy series that wasn't born with a steampunk ethos. Same applies for Zelda and other examples. There's enough firepower in gaming. Slashing, clubbing and arrowing a dude has become a pretty novel way of solving problems. I say stick with it.

If mounted combat isn't in, horses/and or other mounts should not be in. That is all.
