Horses and Horse Combat

They haven't mentioned horses, horse combat, and most of all they haven't said a word about horse armor! why not? think they're hiding something?

The horses got eaten by the dragons and now you have to ride cliff racers to eat all the dragons' food so they starve to death. Again.

No, but in all honesty, it's probably a feature that's just not as important as the basics told in the cover story. A lot of other important info was left out, the GI article only gave us a tiny peek inside.

Relax, 1 short article isn't going to contain everything about the game.

But now Bethesda is forced to reveal more information isn't? Now that we know some basics about the game, I expect that their will be uploaded more information soon on the site. :) Yes indeed, horse combat and riding isn't important at the moment, but i'm almost sure it will be present in the game. :celebrate:

Honestly, awesome as mounted combat can be (see Mount and Blade) I just can't bring myself to care if mounts are in at all.

I saw one picture from the GI article that contained a horse. I'm going to assume that means we will still be able to ride them. Fight on them, I have no idea, but if Bethesda took our advice on dual wielding, why not mounted combat?

A dev replied earlier about that this article barely scrathes the surface, and we all should be keeping our eye peeled in the next few weeks.

i agree........unless they do them like mount and blade i would just assume not have them. i never used them in oblivion anyways because when you ran you trained your athletics skill and after a certain point you were almost as fast as a horse anyways so what was the point in using them...........that and the annoyance factor of having to get off them to fight and then hope your horse doesnt get lost in the mean time. no just leave them out. make them a nord delicasse or some other reason why we dont see them.

Do horse combat like mount and blade did it; hell melee combat two just more FLASHY and natural. Every sword fight becomes an adrenaline rush.

No matter what else happens in the game, If there are no mounts, I will miss their presence. Quite a bit. And I would have to rate the game lower as a result.

Mounts is a must. Preferably with carts and wagons as well. Carts for carrying stuff, wagons for travel service. I'll probably use mounted combat if it's there, but it's not the biggest on the wishlist.
Besides, I think the mounted couriers added some depth to "what goes on around you".

The horse animation in Oblivion were atrocious. If it's like that in Skyrim, my character will use fast-travel if no other means of transport is avaliable.

Red Dead Redemption showed the perfect horse animation. I kept having to remind myself that the horses in the game were not actually real. I was not actually there watching Marston ride them.

Stick a combined speed and walk on water spell on a horse and you can really get about!

I liked the horses in Oblivion... and I didn't have a problem with the animations either. They were certainly no worse than anything else.

Yeah RDR set some standards. I think BGS' animation team probably took one look at RDR and gave up on horses completely.

I hope they have horses. I like horses, and so does M'aiq. :)

If they are in, they most definitely will be improved. Oblivion's horses were so....
...
... so hard to ride?

Red Dead Redemption was awesome here.

If they have horses, I very much think they wouldn't be stupid enough not to include horse combat. It would ruin the "horse experience"
So I better hope we will have horse combat for that reason.
