Horses

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:27 am

If we're set in the far far north, I wish the horses are not big and mighty short-haired warhorses. But more like the small icelandic or northern countries type of rugged fluffy working mates, that can survive the winter by turning their behinds against the wind :)

Lets hope Bethesda has gotten creative with mounts, yes Clydesdale horses would be cool and Maybe also something like warbears or worgs or big rams as well to ride to add a bit of flavour and variety

Errr... tough one. After playing Fallout 3 and FNV I really did not want to see any mounts, but when I play Oblivion and I see those Imperial Guards riding their horses along the roads makes me want mounts.

I don't know...

How would a horse survive in Skyrim? If they do add them in, then they should definitely make them adapted to the climate.

Ask yourself:
"How would a horse survive in Iceland?"

Then suddenly you will notice that horses DO survive in Iceland! They are small, hairy and usually quite fat (to survive the winter).

They should take inspiration from:

Norwegian Nordlandshest

Icelandic Islandshest

Norwegian Fjording/fjordhest

and the now extinct, super hairy, Norwegian Lofothest from North-Norway:

The RDR horses were freaking amazing! I remember Todd saying in an interview that he really liked that game, so I hope he takes it as a personal challenge to include mounts just as good -- maybe even better. There are some horses on the mural in the teaser trailer, so I think there's a pretty good chance we will see them in the game. I am pumped!

Ah, and I was wishing for more vicious ponies who would kick you off the saddle if they get scared and run away, and stuff :bonk: you know, real pony stuff, not wanting to walk somewhere and stopping at will and such :)

"Oh great, the stupid pony ran away, now I have to walk off this desert alone!" :D

It would add to the realism a lot :) and maybe a horsemanship added to the statuses as well, determinating how well you cope with the 4-legged friends.

I want horse armor DLC.

I want horse armor as part of the original game....
Rather than horses, there should be more creatures that actually live in that region in the game.
Pretty much anything should be able to be a mount, especially giant trained warbears... hehehe....
Walks into town on giant warbear, sends oyt dire wolf companion, and goes around shooting enemies with my epic bow of shadows while my bear one-shots anything that gets close enough to attack....

OH, and there MUST be mounted combat!!!

I wouldn't change it much from Oblivion I mean I didn't really need a Horse unless I needed to get to a particular place I never found or I'm trying to escape from the Guards and I have a slow character or I'm wearing Heavy Armor.

Whatever they use, we need mounted combat. Perhaps even its own skill.

I would love to see a Clydesdale in the game. They're beautiful horses, yet very intimidating.

So I was thinking that maybe they'd introduce a new armor DLC that adds like a cool green stripe pattern or maybe some flames to my horse, and then some kind of magical spell that allows you to change the horses color depending on my mood, like a mood horse or something.

I'd like to see horses. And horse armor without having to get a DLC. And perhaps other mounts. And mounted combat. It would be awesome to be able to charge an enemy with a lance or sword, and deal additional damage from the additional momentum.

Mountable cliff racers.

That would be epic. Especially if you could fight dragons in the air.

Any type of draft horse, yes I know they are not primarily used for riding, but riding on one as a Nord or Orc would be soooo awesome.

Edit:

Orcs eat horses not ride them.

On the stone carving you can see mounted warriors, including one riding what looks like a unicorn. Then again, the first shots of Oblivion showed a warrior on horseback, sword drawn - yet mounted combat was not featured.

I'd kinda like there to be a happy medium in taking care of your horse - somewhere between automaton horses that act basically like robots and something that you actually need to take care of. Not SimHorse, but not GiddyupButtercup either.
