Horses... Wished for a little more...

Absolutely love this game, and pretty much wanted to do nothing but play it since it came out... great job Bethesda..

One little gripe though, which we all have one don't we :), is the horses.. I was hoping for more of a upgrade to them from Oblivion. I guess this comes from playing so much Red Dead Redemption, where the horses were done about as well as I think you possibly could in a video game, I though they could have stolen a few ideas from there. first of all, they do look a lot better in skyrim, as everything does in this game, than they did in Oblivion, but they are still a bit stiff as far as the way the run, turn etc... again, I guess the horses in Red Dead were just so well done that I wanted more of that functionality. more speeds of running, (trotting, gallop, etc) turning thier neck and head when you turn, plus the overall look of the horses.

More important than that though, I would have also liked to have seen them add the ability to wield your weapons and attack from horseback.. just seems like it would be totally a natural function in the Skyrim world, and make it way more cool riding your horse around. Being able to fire your bow at a target while riding would be very cool, and have that sort of charging into battle feel. having to get off your horse to do anything boils it down to just a slightly quicker way to get around if your not going to fast travel, but really just ends up not being a good option. couple with that you are going to want to harvest alchemy ingredience as you go along, and interact with people, it just kind of takes riding horses out of it for me. kinda bums me out because the beefy clydesdale style horses are very fitting and do look cool in this game, but the functionality just dissapoints.

It also would be nice to be able to provide your companion, if you choose to have one come along on a quest, with a horse. rather than them having to run behind you half way accross the map. I do not believe you can do that, but then again I have not tried telling one to directly get on a horse. perhaps I'll see if that works at some point, but I doubt it. If i'm wrong there I apologize, and would be glad to wrong.

not a huge problem though, just was hoping for more in the horse category. Overall this has been a great game to play, and I can't wait to see where the adventures take me, as I'm only just getting started at level 20 at this point.
