Ed-E hostile after Dead Money

Post » Wed Jul 28, 2010 6:39 am

Ok well I went to the bunker with Veronica and ED-E. when I was gassed, Veronica went back to the trading post and ED-E went to Primm. I finished the dlc and went to pick him up, as soon as I entered he was hostile to the Nash's and me. I am going to do Dead money again since I know I missed stuff but I would just like to know what triggered this. ED-E has a bunch of items :( (should have left him at the lucky 38 >.>

Its the same with me and I've tried everything that usually fixes these glitches. I left pretty much all the stuff to make about 20 weapon repair kits in him and now I can't get them back. If someone knows how to fix this glitch let us know please.

I was looking on the wiki and there's a known, post-patch issue where ED-E goes hostile if you leave him sitting in Primm too long. And apparently playing out the events in Dead Money counts as "too long". It's not related to the DLC.

I still have a saved game from before I entered the BoS bunker, so I could try reloading from that point and sending ED-E to the Lucky 38 before entering. But then I'd have to play Dead Money all over again (which took me significantly longer than 4-6 hours) just to see if it works. Maybe after the holiday.

This happened to me without Dead Money and I could never find a fix for it.

Had the same problem post Dead Money.. how this is missed I don't know? I would think the first thing they'd bug test is that you can get your companions back after the DLC -- considering they are forced away to start it..

To make things worse I picked up Rex to replace ED-E since I gave up on trying to get to him without him being hostile.. so I got Cass to replace Veronica just to start up a new team with Rex.. and Rex completely disappeared from the game when I sent him back to Lucky 38 for attacking someone for wearing a :swear: hat..

So I had to throw away 2-3 hours worth of wandering, to reload a save about 10 saves back prior to picking up the Cass line of quests, in order to get Rex back with Veronica.. but still doesn't feel right with having them two together..

After Xmas I might go back in and load a save prior to Dead Money.. and rather than tell ED-E and V to wait at Lucky 38.. try and send them back there through dialogue and see if it works, and they don't go back to Primm and the trading post.. I didn't realize the difference in having them wait at Lucky 38 vs using dialogue to part ways and send them there that way until after the DLC with Cass.. maybe he won't go back to Primm and be OK.. but that means replaying Dead Money which I didn't really enjoy..

..or.. just reload, screw going to Sierra Madre, never go to the bunker, and quest from 30-35 in the Wasteland and keep ED-E with me..

The DLC isn't worth playing if it makes your companions hostile and they get killed.

The FAIL continues with this game.

*golf clap for Obsidian*

Ive not got far enough in the game to have companions. Do you need them to complete certain quests? or are they just their to help you out? (ie you dont need them necessarily)

Companions do have their own quest.

In the DLC section, someone posted this fix to the hostile ED-E glitch:

FINALLY FIXED IT!!!!
It is possible to re-recruit ED-E before he turns hostile. Save before entering the Nash residence where ED-E normally is. Use a stealth boy just to be safe, but not 100% required. Enter, quickly press the VATS button, and look at ED-E while still in VATS mode. Quickly disengage VATS mode and talk to ED-E. If done right, you will have entered a normal conversation with him and can choose to recruit him as a follower again.

Well I just went back to a save before DLC but this time I dismissed both companions (ED-E & Veronica) to the Lucky 38. I have returned and recruited both with no problems so far. I can't say for sure that they need to go to the Lucky 38 or if I could have just sent them back to their home base. But at least I know that it has worked for me so far

I also would send my companions to the Lucky 38 before starting the DLC.

I got really annoyed, trying many ways to win ED-E's love back. So just put him down like the mad dog he had become. Now that should make for an interesting end sequence....

Worked for me. Thanks. Have ED-E hostile after completing Dead Money. Veronica and ED-E returned to his locations after entering to Dead Money DLC section. After returning back to wastes I'm picked up Veronica at 188 trading post and then travelled to Primm. Before entering the post office I have commanded to wait to Veronica, switched weapons to unnarmed (arms). Then saved the game to new save, standing near the door. Then enter the office and quickly tap (while loading) the RB button for as quick as possible to activate VATS mode. Then deactivate VATS mode and quickly try to talk to ED-E. For me ED-E already was hostile and the cursor was red on him, but anyway dialog starts. Have a good luck.
