Hot Keys Streamlined

Something I would absolutely love too see in Skyrim would be a change to the hot keys.
First off I think it'd be great if all weapons that are hotkeyed would be visible on my Ranger
which I typically equipped with a shortsword, enchanted dagger, bow, and quiver. That being said if I
pressed left on the dpad to equip my short sword and I was using my bow maybe a swifter transition
than just my bow disappearing and having a sword in hand. Its kind of clunky imo and I think change is needed.
Do you think we may see this or will hotkeys remain the way they were in Oblivion?

Considering how streamlining is always used as a negative term in these forums I was interested how anyone could complain about the new hotkey system. Thankfully that's not the case.

Hotkeys will be changed in Skyrim, it will use a favourites menu, and you'll be able to choose the item needed, so you'll have infinite amount of hotkeys.
As for showing other items on your character... well I don't think it's feasible to do. It worked in assassin's creed because the weapons were set, and there was no real inventory system. The only RPG I can think of where it really worked like you described was Witcher, but it had a unique inventory system and you could only carry extra weapons on your back or belt, not in your main inventory. It is more realistic, yes, but in TES games you tend to have a lot more loot, and you'll want to carry as much as you can with you.

That was honestly the most extensive way of answering a topic with a minimum amount of lines I've ever seen o.O
But, still, I suppose some items could be shown, such as hotkeyed things, but otherwise the concept of inventory kinda limits the possibilities.

The favorites menu are not hotkeys. They function differently. In fact, the consoles don't get hotkeys.

The PC will have them, though. The question is, is the PC going to have hotkeys and the favorites menu?

That being said, I would still love to see other weapons equipped in addition to the main ones I'm using.
