Hotkeys on xboxps3 controller

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 11:54 am

I have a really stupid question, but I'm too blind to find an answer. It took me about a year to actually understand the function of hotkeys, and to use them. Now, with mouse and keyboard, I know how to set stuff to the 9 numbers. But with the controllers, I only get 4 to work, up-down-left-right. How the hell do I get stuff on the "diagonal" ones that have no extra button?

The D pad is a circle. U/D/R/L are visible, but if you click between D&L you can hit a diagonal key. I try not to use these too much just because its easy to miss and pull up the wrong weapon. I normally keep...

R=main ranged weapon(sniper rifle)

L=main mid range weapon(normally SMG)

D= close combat weapon(power fist)

The corners will things I switch to often so I don't want to use vats but that I'm less likely to need in a hurry. My silenced weapon, grenades, mines, armor.

It is a pain, and even after playing for a while, I accidentally replace already assigned items, equip the wrong item, or change ammo type. It seems to help (once properly assigned) to hold the D pad until the pop-up appears on screen and then select the corner items.

Try hitting both buttons at the same time. For example, if you want the upper-left slot, try hitting both the Up and Left buttons.

If that doesn't work, it's probably a developer oversight, as you can access the diagonal hotkeys on the 360. They may have put that in, then forgotten to remove it on the PS3 version.
