37 hours of gameplay 1CTD and 1 freeze. Am I being too picky

Post » Thu Mar 13, 2014 3:16 am

So I was wondering if I could do anything to improve my stability? Or is that stable enough?? I would like ZERO crashes. I Used to play Skyrim vanilla when it first came out and I never experienced crashes. Anyone got any advice? A few things have changed on my rig.
-it's 3 years older

-my GPU died had to replace it. Same card. A GTX 550M. It's a laptop (I was on active duty in the military couldn't buy a tower 3 years ago lol) its an Alienware M17x R3 (I had some money to blow since I was deployed and sitting on cash lol) could it be that my drivers are too new,? I am using nvida's 331.65 drivers.

Anything wrong with my mods/load order? I'm using NMM, BOSS, Tes5edit and Wyre Bash.

I'd say that's good enough, CTDs are not unknown to vanilla skyrim either :)

Yes. I'm more than happy if the game can run a full hour before crashing :lmao:

Of course my last load order index is 7B (or 123), so it is a an accomplishment :hehe:

37 hours to have one crash and one CTD? Your being too picky.

Game instability goes hand in hand with mods. The best you can hope for is a game that crashes every 37 hours or so, and you have that now.

I personally have only crashed in Skyrim (Not counting crashes that my mod caused while testing and I've fixed) probably 2 or 3 times since launch... But I appear to be incredibly lucky.

I'd say if you pile on mods going 10+ hours without any issues is great. So 2 events in 37 hours? I'd call that good. Not perfect, not as good as zero, but considering some people pile on mods and get them after 20 seconds it's great.

That and an event every 18 hours is hardly disruptive to gameplay, just reboot the game and keep on playing.

alright then. Thank you for the quick reply guys.

PS I also have an issue with steam lately. When I verify the integrity of game cache (I do this every month or so. Should I? I saw a video where gopher says too) all 5 files ALWAYS fail to invalidate and they must be reaquired. Maybe this is why I crash every 37 hours or so? I always reclean them with TES5edit afterwards.

ok this time it was 1 file that had to be reaquired. What is happening there? why cant I get them all to aquire?

I would say 37 hours and just one crash and one ctd is great. I am currently running 188 esps and I'm 25 hours into my current character and have only had one ctd, which I suspect may have been my fault since I had just alt tabbed for something 5 minutes prior to the crash.
