"Hours" of music

Post » Fri Sep 09, 2011 5:38 am

I just saw an interesting tweet by Pete Hines.

Now "hours" could be anywhere from 2 to 200 but even if it is just 2 then that's at least over twice as much music as Morrowind and Oblivion. I guess it will take me a bit longer to get bored of the music after all.

That was me once again...

The music in Skyrim already sounds awesome, so now I'm really excited.

I couldn't stop listening to one of the "Town" tracks yesterday. As in, it was the only song I played all day while working, just kept hitting play over and over again. I share Pete's enthusiasm for the score.

 don't tease!!! :ahhh:

Good news, the oblivion soundtrack was around 1 hour long and still amazing so this is very good news.

:tes: so much amazing music this series has brought us, I can't wait for Skyrims soundtrack.

If there is one thing I disliked in Morrowind and Oblivion, it was the fact that most of the songs repeated every hour or so.

I know it's not directly addressing the issue from a vanilla standpoint, but there was a mod that addressed the music in Oblivion that I absolutely loved (it's on my deceased computer, so I don't have the name at the moment). It inserted a lot more silence between songs. It wasn't a continual playlist like we tend to have, and having gaps in the music helped it sound much less repetitive. It also smoothed the transition between songs, especially important between the conclusion of combat music and the resumption of atmospheric music.

One thing I would personally like to see is a return of Daggerfall-style music, with different tunes for different areas and seasons, even affected by the time of day and weather. And don't forget the spooky tunes!

I only know of that piece because I bought the soundtrack.

It'd be safe to say I never heard it in-game. :shakehead:

Did you play the 360 version? Apparently, the original 360 version missed that particular song. I never heard it, either. The GotY-edition is supposed to have it, though. Not sure about the PS3 version.

Morrowind Total + Intro: 38:06 + 1:54

Morrowind's intro theme was also used as an exploration piece, so it isn't quite fair to add it in again. Not that the extra two minutes matters either way, of course, just for the sake of pedantry. ;)

Also, favourite piece of the Jeremy Soule ones from the series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-MfsbYRETQ from Morrowind. Knowing they've still got the person who wrote that doing the music for Skyrim is plenty to make me sure it'll be great, and the more of it the better. ^_^

It's going to be great to update my list of music to listen to, and even better to have a larger variety of amazing, atmospheric soundtracks while playing the game.

I still listen to Morrowind & Oblivion soundtrack every now and then. Great background music for when you're studying.

That's exactly what I do. I'll have my head stuck on a calculus problem, turn on some Watchman's Ease, and let my creative juices flow like I were walking down the orange road.

I read somewhere it wasnt included on the original Oblivion disc, but only on the GOTY, dont know if its true but.. Maybe?
Or you were really unlucky lol.

I loved walking next to the river and listening to that piece..

I played over 200 hours of Oblivion, so that'd be some serious bad luck! :ermm:

Yeah 360.

That's a shame, as it's a beatiful track.
