I'm 60 hours in

Post » Sat Dec 03, 2011 8:54 am

I joined every guild and have done maximum of 2 quests in each apart from the MQ

Main quest - 6 quests done
Companions - 2 quests done
College of Winterhold - 0 quests done
Dark Brotherhood - 2 quests done
Thieves Guild - 2 quests done The Bards College - 0 quests done
Stormcloaks - 2 quests done
Daedric Quests - 0 quests done

Only 3 side quests completed so how have people done every quest line in 30-40 hours?

Do they just rush to every quest wiythout enjoying the game? I do not get it

yea people forgot to explore and enjoy, idiots!!

The quest system in this game, creates unlimited quests, didn't the makers say that, in theory the game can't be to short, it never ends i thought!!!!

People play the game differently.

At the start I liked getting taken off on several different branches, but at one point I started tunnel visioning the quests I wanted to do.

Stop caring so much about what other people are getting done and just enjoy the game the way you want to :)

I guess the reason I play the way I do is because everything but the main questline and the different houses just feels like filler quests, something to fill in but not something with an engaging story or anything.

A lot of people rush through questlines and ping themselves across the map constantly with fast-travel.

I feel sorry for them. Playing like that completely spoils the game.

I dont like to join every guild with one char. For me makes no sense. If you finish the quests of, lets say, the college, no way your char would now try to become a thief or do basic quests for the companions.

So, the only choice is going to the main quest.

just finished the game in 34h. Soon I will create a rogue and see the things I left out my first run.

Im 20 hours into the game on my 3rd character, that I settled with. and am still doing companion quests in white run.
I have done 4-5 quests in main story line. And after that picked up 2 kill bandit leader quests, but otherwise just done companion quests.

I mean, I just feel that even the side quest lines, is so interesting and well done.
I got completely absorbed in the companion ship and the quests I get there. Amazing.

Im in no hurry to finish off the main story, as a matter of fact, it seems a little dull compared to some of the side quests you can get.
And that said, the main story is very interesting so far.
I have just come to the point im going to a party, without spoling too much but so people know where I am.

I have located a huge amount of caves and temples in skyrim through exploring but not gone in there yet, thats the next project. But first Im trying to figue our if the nearby villages have a possible quest there or not.

Eitherway, I like the fact that you can enter a dungeon, find a unique item,. and get it even if you dont have the quest for it. And when you find the quest giver, you can turn said item in.
its not something that pops up just cause you have the quest, but its there.

There is so much to explore.

I cant understand people already completed the main story. They for sure did not spend much time with the side quests and exploring.
As with most tes games, some of the most interesting encounters and wonderful places you visit, comes from the side quests you pick up.

People completing the main story and are done with the game, have not only ruined the experience, they have utterly missed the point with the Elder Scrolls series.
Im not even interested in the main story much, just enough so I slowly get going.

You did not finish teh game at all.
You have not even scratched the surface.
All you did, was to complete the main story, that teaches you how the world of skyrim is.

Running through the game like this utterly spoils it.
The side quests in Skyrim often are far better and interesting than many of the main story plots.

34h completion means you have 0 exploration done.
What a waste.

And THIS is where you are so incredibly wrong.

Almost every side quest line have several quests, in a line, WITH an entangling story.

You most likely picked up the common wanted bandit leader dead quests from various jarls and thought thats how the side quests are.

Thats like playing Wow and doing 1 daily, and believing that every quest in the game is like the 10 minute daily quests you do.

You have missed not half the game, but 95% of the game.

Im taking the same approach as i did with Oblivion. Spend a few hours with a few different characters until i find one i like then do absolutely everything with that character.

The MQ and every quest/guild/side quests etc until i have done everything the game has to offer,

Then i start again with a specialised character EG: a mage who will probably ignore the main quest and head straight for the College of Winterhold,

This way i can be selective about what quests my character does EG: it makes no sense to me from a RP point of view to have a character that saves Skyrim then joins the Dark Brotherhood but as i will have allready done both with my initial character i won't feel like i'm missing out on anything.

Of course as a PS3 user that all depends on the newly reported potentially game breaking 'save file' bug. :brokencomputer:

I love how this thread became 'tell everyone else how they're supposed to play.'

I like doing all the quests and joining every guild and doing all I can with one character. I take my time though. This is how I played Oblivion and its how I will continue to play Skyrim!

I beat the main quest line, companions, thieves, dark brotherhood, helped the stormcloaks take over, killed about 20 dragons, and got to level 34 or so along with other random stuff in 36 hours with my Khajiit stealth archer. So now im playing a pure mage
