12 hours without water

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 3:49 pm

Well the [censored] doesn't want to take our warnings seriously. Let's hope he's not put on the darwins list and a magical tooth fairy arrives in time to turn his water on for him. The human body can't go much longer than 2 days without water, assuming you were hydrated to begin with. If you start getting unusually groggy or tired you might want to consider an ambulance as you might pass out from the minor dehydration at that point. Depending on how long your out you might awake to some nasty surprises.

Edit
Whoever had no water over 4 days is lying through their teeth, or unaware some drinks still contain water. This was the most likely case.

This is mainly whats concerning. My landlord has a pretty lengthy history of lying about when things get fixed. (Took me 11 months to get my sink replaced in my bathroom.....).
And im more or less worried if i have to keep buying water at $2 a bottle, im going to be broke pretty quick if they decide not to fix this right away.

It's fine, you end up with pretty awful hair, but drinking bottled water and cleaning with wet wipes does a good job in general. It's just like camping.

But, atleast camping there is a lake you can jump into lol.

The other thing is if you're having that bad of caffiene withdrawl you should probably cut down on the coffee.

I'm sure if you went to a gym you could easily use a water fountain and shower....

Closest gym to me is like... a 45 minute drive outside of feet of snow on the ground lol.

You remind me of that episode of South Park where they turn to Cannibalism in 5 minutes of being snowed in and end up eating everyone from out of town in 9 hours.

Im catching rats and drinking their blood to keep me going.....?

You keep saying there is all this snow around you.

1. Gather snow.

2. Melt snow.

3. Filter/Boil said melted snow.

4. Water.

5. PROFIT

As for cleaning yourself, you don't need a full complete shower to be clean and you can still wash your hair without being in a shower. Washcloth + water + soap = cleanliness.

P.S. This thread affirms my belief that 75% of the world would not make it if the power went out for extended periods of time. Just sad really....

Making it worst by drinking a diuretic... overblowing it by being desperate in 12 hours... I've gone a few days without drinking anything while in Mexico.

Is it just me that thinks 12 hours is like no time at all?
I'm pretty sure that I can go 2 days without water, though I hate not having a shower, it's not impossible; especially if you are guarenteed it back the same day.

Can't you buy bottled water, or use a friend/neighbours shower/sink?

At least you still have an internet connection. ^_^

Internet > water any day :whistling:. Its not that 12 hours is along time. But if it keeps at this rate, which is a high chance, im going to be SOL in a day or two.)

You need to boil the water for at least 10 minutes before you drink it if you are going to be using snow to kill any microorganisms. I don't know what kind of filter you are using but I would not rely on that alone.

I boiled it for about 15 minutes, left ithere and used some high grade coffee filters I got on sale to filter out any dirt. Looked nice and clean which was good.

I don't know what the exchange rate is, but I'm on £9k a year, and I could stretch to a bottle of water if I needed it :P Had no water for a day here before it got sorted, so that's what I did (didn't have hot water for over three weeks, that svcked too).

I can stretch for it. But for me, the concern is if my water DOESNT come back on, thats going to add up and i'm going to be so incredibly broke.

Depending on your local tenant laws, you might be able to deduct a portion of your rent payment. There should be some kind of tenant advocate group in your city that you can call for free advice.

I should check into this because, that money could come in handy for food after i buy water if I need to

I was going to offer you advice, but your sitting here whining to people on a forum about it. If you really want to get water, you'll go get some water.

This.

I don't feel like paying $2.00 for a bottle of water.

Well, its your only choice, stop whining on a forum about it, as said above.

I had to go 5 days with no clean water, we had to take snow from outside and boil it down.

If you bought the bottled water and kept track of the receipts and times you could probably have the landlord compensate the extra cost, via court room if he/she is stubborn even. But that would probably be a lot of work.
If there is any basis in the contract to pursue legal action you could certainly threaten legal action, in the least.

The snow outside the front of my building is full of cat and dog piss and crap. The only reason I was able ot use the snow on my balcony was, no piss or crap in it lol.

closet one is in a gym far away from me. And since its winter, the outdoor ones near me be closed up.

This. Allthough I probablly shouldnt assume you can get snow just because your in Canada.

Really just get some snow and boil it to kill of bacteria, then cool it, then put it in a sink and use a cloth ot towel to clean with the water.

And honestly $2 or being dehydrated by not drinking for 12 ours, I would choose to buy some water, because I would rather spend $2 than mess up my body by not drinking enough.

If it comes down to it, yellow snow probably tastes better than brown snow.

I love how I made a thread about how i'm pissed im lacking water when I pay money, for rent, which "guarantees" I have all my necessities. Then a few people come to "assume" i'm dehydrated and dying due to lack of fluid for 12 hours. Then people assume to tell me to go spend money, over and over, after specifically stating that i'm broke. And this is also after they've read other peoples assumptions that i'm dying due to lack of water, when the point of the thread was just a small rant about how i'm being screwed out of money due to my fat, glutton of a greedy cow landlord, and how this could potentially be BAD. Not BAD right now, but could potentially be BAD.

So, before you guys decide to start acting like trolls (awesome mod, shut down my thread for calling people trolls), how about you take the extra 47 seconds to READ the original post, and post something that's not baseless stupidity that you've spewing forth in an effort to inflate your own fat ass egos? (:

You smoke about a dozen cigs a day, and $2 (or less) for some water is out of the question?

I think he means no running water.

Or how about you don't create a thread moaning about something really quite petty, then complain when people tell you to svck it up

Indeed, that's why right after that I mentioned wet wipes and bottled water.

Holy [censored]. Someone put an ounce of common sense into a post and was able to deduce something that was right.
And ya, partly being broke comes from my addiction, which obviously is my fault. However that's something that has become essential to me. I have cut down though, so it's saving me some money.

I don't want to sound mean, but you really are making a bigger issue out of this than necessary, and then barking at people for calling you on it.

Smoking =/= essential.
Its an addiction, but you can live without cigarettes.

Ah being accused of "baseless stupidity" by a guy who spends money on cigarettes but $2 on water is extortion.

Pro tip insulting people dosent generate sympathy.
