Mr. House and MIT

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 1:32 pm

House's obituary mentions him going to the Institute as a student. I wonder if Bethesda with draw any connections to that fact. I.e., will we see his old dorm room or halls named in his honor. Maybe a mysterious flickering of an image of a mustachioed man on an Institute terminal (if the game does indeed take place before Vegas).

It would be nice to have a small reference, though I doubt that Bethesda will do anything major with Mr. House.

Finding his old digs would be interesting. Maybe student records.

"House is a troublesome student who seems to place himself above his peers and even his instructors. A trust fund youth if anything. I do not see him going far except financial ruin."-- signed, Professor So and So.

Truthfully I wouldn't be surprised if they do include a small reference to him.

We already have the Liberty Prime/House painting after all.

Easter eggs like that would be cool. Maybe a prototype securitron with a b- grade plastered on it. ("Impressive A.I. and weaponry, but a single wheel for a combat robot? Were you too busy "brain scanning" sorority girls to think of a proper form of locomotion?)

Hmmm, assuming we are a few years ahead of the New Vegas timeline, it would even be possible for House to play a prominent role in a DLC.... perhaps someone behind the scenes, a Moriarity type... with the mystique of a video screen only presence

Well, House dies or gets disabled in 3/4 of the storylines so I doubt it.

lol

I do not think it will have some reference to Robert House (the staff of the BGS at least played NV?), but if it has to be subtle.

House is a bit like Dr. Doom from the Fantastic 4, except, of course, without the full body armor!

Mm I'd like something of that nature but wasn't Mr House cheated of his inheritance and attended the institute thru his own grades? Because he didn't start robco until after he graduated from there and that's where the money started rolling in thru his own hard work.

Touché. A bad example, only because I imagine he was a pretty Lex Luthor gent when he was upwardly mobile.

Would be cool. But I wonder how limited Mr. House is in broadcasting beyond the Lucky 38. He can only send "packets of data" to Goodsprings. He only appears in securitron form after both getting the platinum chip updates and two power sources (El Dorado and the dam). Boston is a long ways away. Maybe if its really garbled.

not that i actually thought house would play a major (or any) role in fo4, but:

in many aspects, it's SCREAMING for house - the mit of course, but also, at one hand, we'll be playing a character that just got up from a 200y nap of yet unknown kind, and at the other hand, we have mr. "my stasis pod is my castle" house...? hello-oh? :-))

He'd probably be a bit jealous that his cryostasis didn't work as well. The player character doesn't look like a freezer-burned zombie. Then again, I guess the player character wasn't a conscious cyborg for 200 years.

i'd have to look up if any of this fits the timeline, but it would perfectly make sense in a

house develops stasis thingie prototype ->

house puts himself into stasis thingie prototype ->

prototype gets finished by post-house dude ->

post-house dude freezes us

order :-)

Possible. Or it seems like between that soldier in Sierra Army depot, Vault 112, Vault 111, and Mr. House that cryonics is done by multiple entities and is of variable success. As Desmond's backstory seems to indicate, longevity to survive the apocalypse was of interests to many groups.

Because Mr House WAS NOT in Stasis. Stasis would mean he couldn't think. Even his brain would be frozen. Everything would be frozen. That's not what House want. He was life extented... It had nothing to do with cyrostasis. Cyrostasis and longevity are not the same thing.

Yeah, poor choice of words. Tried to allude to that distinction in the second part of my statement. Guess its more cryo-antideterioration.

I feel that Bethesda hates almost every aspect of New Vegas since it did everything better than fo3 (for me at least). So I doubt that New Vegas will even be cannon in Bethesda Lore.

I wonder if, Bethesda worked with Obsidian to add nods to Fallout 4, in New Vegas? Like Mr. House's obituary...

I don't know about that. Always thought the baby's mobile in the trailer was a subtle reference to Repconn.

Todd Howard himself has said that NV was great and that giving Obsidian another go at Fallout is a good idea.

I see no reason why they would hate it.
