House Redoran: Civil War Possition

Post » Sun Apr 06, 2014 1:29 am

Well we reached the post limit and I wanted to keep the discussion going on because it was interesting.

So, the point is:

If to help Ulfric or to eliminate him.

Im not an Imperial supporter. But I feel that, besides the ideas of the Stormcloacks, its leaders are a pain.

Also the empire is not strong to endanger our border.

So what do you think? Lets keep the discussion

Ulfric doesn't want a war with the Dunmer. I still don't get what makes you think he's a threat to the Dunmer.

Having Skyrim become independent would benefit you and the Dunmer because the empire would have less control of Tamriel and you wouldn't have to worry about Morrowind ever being taken by the empire again. If the empire ever wanted that rock anyway...
If the empire wins the civil war, takes all of Skyrim's resources, wins the war against the BananaMer and brings lolpeace to Tamriel. They might want to conquer all of Tamriel again... And without help from the 3 people god thingies, Morrowind would be under the empires control in a very short time. :D :) :D

Rolff doesn't like this thread btw. (I'm drunk so my post may be incoherent)

Ulfric has no interest in morrowind. In fact, The dunmer would benefit from an alliance with an independent skyrim imo.

He does make a joke about invading Morrowind.

I don't think you're going to know the answer to your question. It's down to the individual. I know my Dunmer PC was not impressed with Cyrodiil doing nothing to help the Dunmer but still claiming its old territories like it owns them forever. Not to mention making him an outlaw for no reason and putting his head on a block.

He does? (I don't remember that :P) I'm gonna check UESP when I'm sober :P

Still, The thalmor are a treat to all of tamriel and an attacking the dunmer would be a waste of resources for a recovering nation (Assuming Ulfric wins). Imo, the thalmor getting friendly with argonians would be more of a treat to morrowind (Thats assuming they actually COULD make friends with the lizards)

House Redoran or any other Morrowind great house won't interfere with Skyrim's affairs; very similar to High Rock.

House Redoran almost certainly wouldn't care. A greedy Nordic warlord versus the treacherous Empire. Neither is better than the other.

The Dunmer houses I'd imagine to be largely introspective, especially now.

I can see House Redoran becoming an ally of an Independant Skyrim, Redoran are not ignorant of the Threat the Dominion pose.

The Heart of Shor is no longer trapped in Red Mountain.

House Redoran places Value in Honor, and judge Individuals by Deeds and Actions.

Redorans would probably consider many of the problems within the Gray Quarter to be self inflicted.

An Alliance with an Independant Skyrim means only needing to focus on the passes through the Valus Moutains when the Empire decides that a new source of Wealth is needed to "ready the Empire for the coming war".

From what I have been seeing in Dragonborn, there is no dialogue indicating an official position of House Redoran on the Skyrim Civil War.

However, Morrowind does have security interests at stake, and those interests are not served by a Stormcloak victory.

Why make these threads when you've already made up your mind and there is no way to persuade you differently?

I imagine that Dunmer, being longer-lived than Imperials or Nords, take a more long-term view of things. Several short mannish lifetimes from now, when Titus Mede II and Ulfric Stormcloak are distant memories, which one, the Empire or an independent Skyrim, will be more of a concern to the well-being and security of Morrowind?

What? It seems you have not readed thelast thread, or you have readed just the parts you wanted to......

Well, it is know that the Dunmer and the Nords were always in the verge of disputes. And it is uncertain how things would end if a Warlord declares the total freedom of the place. I dont think the stormcloacks per se are dangerous, but I can Imagine Galmar saying "Lets pay a visit to our neighbours... we need some ebony".

Well, the Dwemereth pass would in that case be controlled by the stormcloacks. I know the empire is no better, but a pollytically weakened empire could bother a lot less than a strenghtened nordic warlord.

I see the point there. But also, the pride of the Nords, specially the duet Ulfric/Galmar would make it very difficult to forge an alliance.

The point is: my character is involved, not the house, but he is house Redoran, and he is involved, because the life placed him there. So, he realizes that the Rebellion may be good. But he also loooks at Ulfric and Galmar, and does not like the arrogance of the both. He also knows how tracherous the empire is, but that is in no possition to represent any threat to morrowind (in fact the armistince between morrowind and the empire, was only made because Septin went with Anumidium replica agains the tribunal, and them weakened called for peace with a treaty). Both are bad in the end, but the civil war ongoing is worst, because the Dominion is the greatests of the threats.

Actually, the Empire is the best choice for Morrowind vis a vis the Civil War.

At best, a Stormcloak win represents uncertainty for Morrowind security which is very undesirable when it comes to national security. An Imperial win means maintaining the status quo which is known.

You mention the Dominion threat and that is a consideration in favor of an Imperial victory - it would give Morrowind a better "meat shield" between them and the Thalmor lead Aldmeri Dominion.

Based on dialogue in Dragonborn, the Dunmer would have reason to have good will towards the Empire as they left Morrowind willingly.

Well, yes, as a meat shield I think the empire would do best. That is what this is about, not the support for the stormcloacks ideology, or the evil empire doctrines, but to do what is best to the interests of Morrowind

About the last point, many Dunmer seems to be angry of the fact the legions left us at the Oblivion crysis. But hey, we won our freedom that way and its a good thing.

In Morrowind, House Redoran had good disposition to the Legion, but not to the Empire (They considered the legionaires as honorable warriors it seems).
