[Early WIPz] House Redoran Expanded

Post » Sat Mar 19, 2011 3:40 am

That's a great idea, especially as there are similar quests in the vanilla game for Houses Hlaalu and Telvanni. Maybe a group from the Urshilaku (the camp nearest to Bal Isra) could come to petition you for more political rights? I remember Ashkhan Kaushad of the Zainab saying that the Ashlanders wanted a seat on the Grand Council.

Theres a House Redoran quest where some Ashlanders kidnap a pilgrim which can be resolved peacefully. In some ways I think Redoran is the Great House that would have most sympathy for the Ashlanders, although its close relations with the Temple might affect that. Maybe some quests that involving befriending or harassing Ashlanders, mediating between them and the Temple or supporting Temple suppression of them etc.

For income I'd like to see something different from another egg mine. Maybe developing and protecting guar and/or shalk herds?

UPDATE:

This project has been postponed, we will resume work on it after we are finished with another WIP. Sorry for the inconvenience, but the other project is more demanding of our attention at the moment.

:(

What's the other project? I would hate to see this one abandoned (not that I'm saying it will be, of course, but I've seen that happen so many times...)

the other projects mine, and it's a bit secret :P

also we sorta quit this because of the pax redoran and other quests for bal isra getting in the way, making it REALLY stressful and boring, and if your not having fun whats the point? though i'm gonna release the models i made (even though half of them aren't finished) but i'm gonna keep making some new armor cause it was fun.

i'm sure oneday we'll release most of what we've done....maybe some one would like to pick it up.........

It's a shame, but understandable. Trying to create an equivalent of RoHT/BuuL/UL for Redoran is a huge task. Good luck in your other project :)

The interest to expand Redoran and Hlaalu has been around for a while, and so many quality Telvanni mods in recent memory have highlighted the lacking in the other Houses... perhaps another enterprising modder will see fit to attempt it some day.

hopefully, at least we made a great exterior and interior. it's just all that LGNPC that we couldn't work with, i can't even script or make dialog very well :dead:

Take sides in the feud between House Telvanni and the Mages Guild. Alternative questlines depending on which side you take, with very different impact on the face of Vvardenfell for each.

This might seem strange, but perhaps it would be possible to create a scenario where house telvanni actually accomplishes everything that it does in ROHT, only it becomes your responsibility to tear them down and stop them from controlling Morrowind.

That's perfectly possible. All important progress in RoHT is controlled by global variables. Details of those variables are described in RoHT's "Modder's Readme" file. Here's a short excerpt:
[...]I have gone to some lengths to provide you with an easy way to inject RoHT intoyour mods and vice versa. The core product of these efforts is RoHT's plethoraof global variables that allow other mods to determine RoHT's current status. To check a variable's current value, simply add an identically named globalvariable of the same type to your game, and read its value either by dialogueor by script.ALL THESE VARIABLES ARE MEANT TO BE READ ONLY. RoHT relies heavily on them, soif another mod changes their value, it can totally screw things up. The onlycase where I endorse writing access to RoHT's variables is with mods that expandon the other Great Houses. For example, a "Rise of House Hlaalu" mod would needto actively change RoHT's variables if it is going to react to it. In all othercases, I ask you to only read RoHT's variables.Example:If you'd like an NPC to comment on House Telvanni taking over the EastEmpire Company, add the global short variable "RoHT_EEC_status" to your mod, andfilter that NPC's dialogue for "global RoHT_EEC_status = 1". That's it; your moddoesn't even need to be dependent on RoHT for this check.[...]

In order to determine what quest happens when, please refer to RoHT's quest tree which is also included since v1.4.

Double :(

What sort of problems were you having with the LGNPC mods 'getting in the way'? Couldn't you (say) delay the start of the expansion until after the Pax Redoran Archmaster quests are completed, in order to minimise conflicts? I know very little about scripting or dialogue, but if you sent me the esp file, maybe I could at least make a start...

thats what we're are planning to do, wollibeebee might have come off as we are dropping this project, thats not what we're doing though. Both of us have very little experience in scripting and dialogue which is essential for this mod. So we are taking on a slightly less complicated mod in hopes of improving our skills and being able to accomplish this task. I'm not completely sure if wollibeebee is going to stay on the team as he has told me that he has a few other WIP's and needs to work on those after our current project, so i might be recruiting some of you early next year or maybe even later this year around December if we get our current project done. And trust me, our current project will also be very fun to play, but im sorry to say i cannot release any information on it in fear of being beheaded by wollibeebee.....so your just going to have to wait, it will be pretty awesome though.

So all in all this project isnt dead its just temporarily postponed, i know that i will resume it later this year or early next year, so dont get your hopes down.

Look forward to seeing something eventually
What you've already done looks good and I appreciate your concern to make a good mod that works well with LGNPC, even if it is slightly frustrating that I can't have it now

I'm glad to announce that I am starting up this project again tonight. If i could get a team going then maybe this project could be released by late this year, so if you wish to join please show some of your work and explain why you would be good on this project....make something kinda like a resume :P

Excellent news! Maybe you could say a bit more about what sort of skills you're looking for in a team (writers, scripters, modellers?)

most of our quest are for the archmaster, PAX Redoran only has a few archmaster quests.

This really sounds interesting. Having finished all of the PAX Redoran quests, there is now a feeling of "now what" regarding actually running House Redoran. It would be wonderful if there was more for the player-Archmaster to do.

we need all of them if anyone wants this done by the end of this year, im currently working this, and the Skyrim project. So im pretty busy, im looking for people who have a multitude of skills or who are very strong in one category.

yes, we were originally going to integrate quests in to the main storyline but when we found out PAX Redoran did that we decided to make it more like RoHT where almost all the quests are for the Archmaster.

Well, as I said, I'd be willing to help out with the writing now that I've finished my own story. I'm hardly an expert with the CS, but I do know how to add and filter dialogue entries (though scripts and suchlike are a bit beyond me, unfortunately). I'm also reasonably familiar with Pax Redoran and the other LGNPC mods, which might be a help if you and Wolli haven't played them.

I just love the combination of those 3 mods (BUUL + UL + RoHT), and I'd really like to see it fit in my other favourite House (Redoran :) ). So cheers on this project!

Update:

I did a lot of work on the exterior today, we're making Bal Isra look really "rocky" it actually looks really good, most of the landscape is stones, large rocks, and boulders. Wolli is finishing up the last little bits and then we start on doing the interiors, this is kinda our plan for making RE,

1. Exteriors and landscape
2. Interiors and NPC's
3. Story Board and quest planning
4. Making quest areas, caves, bandit camps, etc.
5. Dialogue, Quests, and scripting quests.
6. Scripting exterior buildings and structures.

so hopefully we will start Interiors tonight. and also we are still in need of skilled help so if you have some skills and would like to help out please say so. ohh and Helena welcome to the team! :)

I fully support this mod. A rise of house redoran type mod would convince me to play through the house again. Especially if it made Bal Isra more interesting.
