So, are there any houses in the woods which you can own and store items in the chests and won't have to worry about gthem getting stolen?

Not that I know of.

I'd like a forest hut too. Maybe we'll get it in a dlc.

Mods will bring new and awesome houses as they did in oblivion.

There are a few safe containers knocking about the wilds. The UESP lists a few under the housing section. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Houses under free shacks.

The Alchemists shack. It's at the base of "the throat of the world" but on the south eastern most side. South of Ivangard and NOT UP THE MOUNTAIN. Stay on the road ... you won't miss it ...


It's not much of a dwelling. It's literally a shack ... but I like it ...

Maybe not a home originally, but there are a few buildings that exist in the wilderness that you can own...all you need to do is slay their owners. I seem to recall a couple places in the South (The city with antlers for it's icon) and Riften that had a few houses in the woods. Also there is a place called the "Alchemist shack" between the road to Ivangard and the town you start off in. Just follow that road, it should be on your left , after you pass the snowy canyon area and enter lusher grounds.

Found that the other day, thought the same, makes a nice free shack. But does it have any containers for safe keeping?
