Housing

Does anyone think it would be possible to have a way to place chests, or display cases wherever you want in your house, except within reason? Or edit the rug types, curtains, windows, etc? I think this would be pretty awesome, i would just like some speculation, and better ideas involved in this. Maybe have a general store where you buy everything for a house, and the there can be someone in that store labeled, "The Carpenter", or some other name that involves housing. You talk to him, and you choose which house you would like to edit. It pulls up a grid of your house, and you place different types of objects depending on what you have bought, and from there, you could decide where you want the item, and/or move pre-existing items.

For example, you could by bed to place in your room, there could be a small bed, average bed, and luxury bed, but you could change the texture or color/design without cost, cause then people complain of prices.

Please continue adding, or criticizing the idea.

I like the idea of a few types of 'housing' shops, and the idea of customisability, however so,e customisation can be too much.

I'd like to see maximized customization of the player's house... but here are some of the priorities I'd like to see implemented first.

FIRST: Customization of objects that are important to gameplay - (beds, chests, enchanting/spellmaking altars etc.)
Then secondary things like furniture, display cases, decorations (statues etc.)
Of least importance would be the rugs, tapestries, lights etc.

It would be cool to implement a way to purchase items individually, and decide where they are located within the house.
I also think it would be important to keep Oblivion's method of house-furnishing available as an OPTION, so people without interest in complete customization could furnish their homes quickly.

Lastly, I think it would be cool (if possible) to implement a way for characters to build their own home (in a place of their choosing, and within reason). They would be able to determine the exterior AND interior layout of the home, and then furnish it.

Am I the only person who generally didn't care about the player housing in Oblivion or Fallout?

I suppose from an RP standpoint, or if you want a place to store the really cool looking items that you'll never use. I just never saw much of a point, I would buy the place, walk around for a few minutes and never return.

I guess, if they're going to include PC housing - which I'm sure they will - I'd like it to have some actual utility or interactivity beyond storage and decoration.

None of these Oblivion housing was already good they should just add more houses , even the morrowind was fine (kill inhabitant of the house then dispose of body and place items where you want)

I wouldn't mind the idea of buying houses and such like in Daggerfall. However actual customization is, in my opinion, outside the scope of the game. Also, in my opinion, that is not really role playing, it's make believe.
