How to apply meshes and textures properly...

Post » Thu Dec 24, 2009 10:03 am

In all of Oblivion, I probably sound very stupid. But I really don't want to use OBMM or any other Mod Manager - I want to apply the mods manually. Could someone please give me a couple of tips?

One of my biggest questions is, as the title suggests, how to correctly apply textures and meshes (sounds, etc.). Usually, if you download a mod and look inside it, there is a meshes folder. That's fine. But how do I apply that?!? Do I take the entire Meshes folder from the mod and paste it into the Data->Meshes folder or do I take what is in there and paste it inside the Data->Meshes? Same question with textures.

Thanks a BILLION and may many Septims rain down on you :P

Hmm...Not quite what I was looking for - I'm fine with the .bsa and .esm and .esp files - its more the meshes and little files...that annoy me...:P

Just drag and drop the meshes and textures folders into your oblivion\data folder and click yes all to the warnings (there just asking you if you want to merge) And then use Archiveinvalidated and your good to go

Are you asking how to install mods yourself? Because you need to copy the whole folders like they are into the data folder, unless when you unzipped it the folder was data.

Why wouldn't you want to use Oblivion Mod Manager??

OK, no worries, but OBMM is helpful in re-aranging your load order :D

But basically you do what the others have said :D

What ThePistol said. For more details, see How to install plug-ins manually in the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=449239 above. I think it's a good idea to learn how to do it manually - but you'll notice the benefits of OBMM/BAIN when you want to uninstall a mod with lots of resources.
