How are people level 25+ 40 hours in?

7 days out and I'm already level 32. I don't know whether to feel accomplished or ashamed.

How many hours have you played in those 7 days though?

70 hours in and level 21. It is all just how you play the game I suppose

Only 21 in 70 hours, bloody hell. I'm level 16 after 18 hours or so.

Idunno, I just play.
Though I remember to use the skills as well so they aren't used too seldom.

It's kind of amusing to see people referring to only being level 25-30 at 40 hours in, to be "blowing through the game", when just a couple days ago the same threads were about people saying they were level 50 and/or "done" with the game in under much less time.

Me, I'm at lv 30, somewhere around the low 40's in hours. Highest skill is 1-h, at 72. Haven't gotten to Solitude yet on the main quest. (Actually, haven't been to Solitude, either of the "M" cities, or Falkreath. And I've only just stepped in the door of Riften, haven't really done anything there yet.) Still have plenty of game left to do, I'm in no rush. :)

What does fast traveling have to do with what level you are?

Everything. Actually exploring is going to add a lot more hours. Just fast travelling to the next location, beating things up then fast travelling to the next is going to make you level a lot faster....

Fast travel helps me explore more - I'm spending all my walking time looking around and trying to find places/people/exciting vistas, rather than walking back to Whiterun for the 80th time to sell some junk. (No, I don't consider "walk back and forth to Whiterun, along paths I've trod many times already" to be "exploring")

Levelling in Skyrim seems much faster than previous games.

Didn't realize I was leveling fast...

Level 26 and I've got 27 hours played total. Probably less on that character though due to deaths and whatnot. Sneak, Archery, 1H, Restoration, Destruction, Smithing, Alchemy, and Light Armor. Haven't raised many skills besides those. None are max, Smithing is my highest around level 73 or so.

Fast travel does not kill exploration. I can't fast travel to locations I haven't been to. I just use it to dump gear back at my home and sell armor/weapons I already have.

I've hardly fast-traveled, except to go to the locations that are a far distance away.

I mostly just went exploring, finding new locations, and hunted. Just playing the game and exploring will level you up quickly, and I've hardly even started on dungeon-diving yet. What I like most is no more of that stupid grinding like I would do in Morrowind and Oblivion just to level up my character to the best for each level. Now, I can just simply play and my character's strengths grow naturally without having to waste time grinding in skills I'll never use.

I abuse fast travel, because I don't want to run over and over again through terrain I have already seen and cleared of monsters. Seems like a pointless waste of my time. I'll get to enjoy that terrain again on subsequent play-throughs. What you guys are doing is artificially inflating the play time.

For one. People level sneak at the bear in the beginning to 100, you can get smithing up relatively easy with cash flow, and speech if you use the exploit. Those will get you leveled pretty fast. Along with exploring things on the way.

Smithing and Alchemy. Easy ways to shore up your levels. I have done literally none of either and how focused entirely on combat skills.

I'm level 19 and I got 17 hours in. Also playing in the highest difficulty, but I dont feel like I am ruining my game experience or anything like that.

People will start to realize that level has next to no meaning in this game. You don't need "level" to accomplish anything. You don't have any real reason for wanting a higher "level". Individual skill levels are important, but you can get your character level quite high quite quickly and have a character who only has skill levels in alchemy, enchanting, smithing, stealth and speech. People play differently. You can get to 100 skill in three skills before leaving the tutoral. Go for it. I don't see the point, but some people enjoy doing wacky stuff like that. Play the game for fun, and quit comparing your "level" to others. This isn't WoW.

I think I started the main quest line too early - The main enemy on the path to ther Graybeards 1 shot kills me (I am at level 5). Also does anyone know if the dragons are like the Oblivion gates, in that if you put off killing the first one, no more will spawn?

40 hours in, level 23. I never fast travel, I play on Master, I specialize in One-Hand, block, and heavy weapon. I always block before I throw an attack, I also use restoration a butt load, and I save every bit of ingredient I get to make potions and I'm building up a huge stockpile in my house of every smithing supply possible. I've got over like 100 or so gold ingots and such, so I'm going to start smithing like crazy when I get a chance to sit down after the Main Quest. That's what it's all about. Being efficient.

They are playing easy cake difficultys like expert and adept = so they doesn't die

grow up...

One thing ive noticed is diffrent characters level alot faster/slower . My thief/assasin was twice the level of my mage after the same play time.

You answered my question - kids with ADD.

If exploring and enjoying the world is "doing nothing" then why didnt they just make it a linear adventure game with a map 50x smaller? ;)

Or how about advlts that have real world issues they have to tend to, and may not have as much time that they wish they had to play the game.

32 hours level 16 Cloth Mage and currently getting owned by an un-dead dragon. No, I'm finding the difficulty level to be just about perfect at the moment. But as others have said - in a game like Skyrim it boils down to how you play.

Hmm, ive been playing for 43 hours and im level 30, and i dont fast travel. I do sprint everywhere though, and i suppose the uber fast conjuration levelling made me level fast. And enchanting.
