HOW ARE THE GRAPHICS?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 12:06 am

Just wanted to know how the graphics are looking to you guys playing on PC. Is it the best yet? I have a PS3 and I understand a lot of you guys' disappointment that this wasn't a PC exclusive. It would be like Killzone 3 and Uncharted 2 being dumbed down for the xbox. I hope it's still a great game the PC though.

Better than the original. Ignore the haters. They're just pissed because it doesn't run as poorly as the first one, because they want a benchmark tool and not a game. I guess they've never heard of 3D mark....

Well, there are only 3 graphics presets (where as a normal game would let you control lighting, AA, AF, textures, shadows, etc.), but the game still looks better than on consoles obviously. However, the game is only DirectX 9.0 and the textures are more low res than the first game. So it's essentially a downgrade from the Crysis.

Borss, my man, you need a reality check. Textures, world openness, physics and destruction (all part of the visual experience) are painfully dumbed down in Crysis 2, even at it's highest settings.

5 years on the road, we get a lighting upgrade at the expense of pretty much everything else...

The graphics in C2 are great, but once you stop and start looking at little details where lots of corners were cut, the visuals become a bit underwhelming.

C1 was the opposite, the more you looked at the little details, the more impressive it actually got.

Oh but at least all the whiners still have 3dmark as a PC exclusive, I wish they would all pack up and go to Futuremark's forums and sing Kumbaya.

Would you guys say that the game still looks better than most if not all PC games? Or is it just run of the mill graphics now?

i dont see what the big deal is with the lack of graphics options, your going to put them all on/maxed anyway. and anyone thats fussy about certain effects will just edit to turn them off. the graphics are pretty good , not in the same style as crysis but still impressive. its the multiplayer thats gimped.

The graphics are basically the same as what you see on the xbox, only you can change the resolution. Basically its a huge downgrade from crysis 1, dont believe the trolls saying it looks better than crysis 1, anyone with a working set of eyes can see thats not true.

i started to play C2 yesterday.

and i actullay played, while playing the graphics are pretty awesome.
if u take a close look at the details while fooling around, u'll find some
unexpected stuff (at least unexpected from crytek).

overall it looks good and is fun to play.

playing is the key, if u want to find bad things u will find them.

anyway so mp issues are discusting to be honest.

That svcks guys, I was kinda thinking of buying it on PC and seeing if it was a beast graphically like Crytek is know for. It's ok on consoles, but I heard that it was meant to be played on PC. Is it still worth the buy?

Most reviews are saying that it's one of the best looking PC games ever.

Something I could not get over when I saw it, there were some bullet casings, just some random stuff on the ground... It was PAINTED on there. There weren't actually bullet casings on the ground, there were just low-resolution 2D images just pasted there. Same with water puddles, and other things.

COME ON!!

*edit*

There... That wasn't where I found it, but the place where I did find it, it was the exact same 2D texture just pasted there.

On consoles they did a good job, they took the maximum out of the console, but the computer version is ****, this is a step backwards in the evolution of the game. - I played the game all the way to the end. The textures are poor, low resolution. Crysis 1 was much much better, better graphics, sound, atmosphere - Simply everything was or is better in the first Crysis - I think Crysis 2 is not quite finished. There are too many bugs and glitches. sorry for my english.

awesome.

Im playing 1920x1120 EXTREME resolution. Never played CRYSIS 1 but I did see my buddy playing in his house and of course maps with forests and water and plants have a different look if you compare to most maps in CRYSIS 2 where you've got a lot of concrete buildings and all urban scenes. But of course it's pretty impressive, just pixels talking, of course such demanding software it's a hint on how many details those pixels are covering. My Intel i7 3,2GHz is complaining a lot and also my 1,5G Nvidia card (I think I need a i7 EXTREME at this point on). I might be experiencing -30fps at this stage.

It's a good game, but we were lead into believing it was something its not is the problem. Now if any other company had made this game I think every pc gamer would have looked at it and said "hmm maybe this company has a future ahead of them, this is a great start and I will keep an eye on these guys and hopefully their games will just keep getting better."

But it wasn't any other company it was Crytek, and they missed their own mark.

How are the graphics?

I would say close to Half-Life 2 class. (not Episode 2) Everything looks rather dead and lifeless. The upside is that a high-end computer from 2004 could probably run this game smooth. They got themselves a larger audience with a game that both consoles and low-end computers can run.

Boring? Yes, but it′s all about the money.

Pretty good on single stock 470 with very high setting including DX11(I will not go for extreme for now). I wish if I had 590 with 3d ready kit(including 3 monitors with 120hz each).
You also need 1.2kw psu for multi-gpu settings and good cooling system with proper ventilation.
I would recommend ICON 2 case from Falcon-NW.
Physx takes resources and slows down cards.

Yeah, veloz, we kind of wish a brick would fall on your head.

Oh so now it goes to wishing personal harm befall someone for a comment about not needing all the whining that we are having around here. And who is the We that you represent...are you like the new community manager or something? Nevermind don't answer, its about time for you to start another useless thread about how Crysis 2 didn't meet your expectations and how your going to rage/write a letter/sue/wtf it is you can do to get attention and divert Cryteks energy off of fixing real game bugs.

I think the graphics are excellent. Not as ground-breaking as Far Cry or Crysis BUT what it does have is excellent art direction. The look and feel of the environment is amazing and, strangely enough, I feel that is more important than anything else. If the game has atmospheric level design with a cohesive artistic direction, it can make up for lack of pure hardcoe graphics.
