How are the Lore Books?

Post » Fri Mar 11, 2016 12:18 pm

This may or may not be the appropriate forum to post this in seeing as it's referring to an actual product but it's also in regards to lore. I'm talking about the official lore books they sell for ESO and Skyrim. I don't play ESO (because I don't have decent computer or a PS4/Xbox One) but the lore book that was released looks interesting as do the Skyrim ones. Just curious if anyone has them and what you think of them?

Aren't they literally just dead-tree format collections of in-game books?

Kind of yeah. There's no new texts to the books that can't be found in-game, but the main selling point about the books is all of the artwork made for them. Every page has some sort of picture or pictures, whether it's drawn into the background, a black line drawing of something, or a coloured portrait or painting. They're quite nice, and do a lot to help tell the stories that are within the books in writing. The pictures also sometimes can tell us new things we didn't know about certain subjects very well, like there's one picture of the Mane of the Khajiit being carried on their palanquin. We've only had one other drawing of the Mane available to us if I recall, from the pocket guide to the empire.

Adding to that, I find the ESO books to have more newer art, while the Skyrim one's do re-use some of the art found in the art book. But still they are both well presented, have a nice qaulity to them and I emjoy having them.?
