How Bad is the Profanity in Fallout: New Vegas?

Post » Tue Jul 31, 2012 12:16 pm

I really want to purchase Fallout: New Vegas, but I want to know how bad the swearing is before I buy it. My little sister is impressionable, and my mom is uncomfortable with profanity. I LOVED Fallout 3, and would really like to purchase New Vegas as well. Here are the questions that I need answered:

1. How bad is the Profanity?
2. Is there more or less of it then in Fallout 3?
3. How much Strong Profanity is there? (F-Bombs and S-Bombs)

Thank you so much for all of your help!

PS. Please do not question the morals of this post, as they are not my own. I couldn't care less about the profanity. It's my family.

Avoid Boxcars and you'll be okay.

Boxcars? What are those?

(Sorry, I know nothing about NV. I haven't even finished all the DLC for Fallout 3 yet.)

New Vegas has significantly more "profanity" than Fallout 3, so... yeah. Maybe play with headphones?

It really does depend on your location. There are certain people (Boxcar for example) that stream a seemingly never ending flow of F-words. Most of them are found among the Powder Gangers.
The Great Khans have their fair share of people that say profanity as well.

Overall though to be honest the amount of profanity in the game entirely is probably equal to most other games but that is accounting for the fact that FNV has 100+ hours of content. Overall as a game there really isn't that much.

Oh and Old World Blues the DLC isn't for young people. There is a psychotic pathologically murderous toaster and depressed twitchy robot that both speak ridiculous lines. Also there is a certain NPC that says the word (the word is censored here. But im talking about a guy's third leg) like 10 times in the course of 5 sentences.

Thanks to everyone that has helped so far. Right now I might get it. The general consensus is split 50/50 on the 2 sites that I've checked (Here and CommonSenseMedia). Some say there's loads, while others say there isn't much.
