How is Bethesda on patching?

Post » Wed Nov 30, 2011 7:23 pm

I haven't played a Bethesda game until it was out for several months. Should I expect a small patch every week, or just one big patch once a month or so? I have the PC version, if that means anything.

There are good about patching problems, unlike some companies that never release patches at all, or only release one.

However, Bethesda likes to do things methodically and carefully, so they like to release a few big patches rather than a lot of small quick ones. But for every game so far they have patched within a month of release, then with additional patches as needed every couple of months.

They have a new system in place, yes, but that is only for tiny or small fixes or tweaks like variable values or data set numbers, such as how much damage a weapon does, etc. Anything that requires programming, editing the world cell, or scripting to fix still has to be done the old slower way.

they are pretty good at fixing most things.

on the pc though, anything beth doesn't fix, fans will.

with the amount of time i've put into it, i'm actually shocked i haven't found more than one minor glitch/error.
