How big is your pile of shame..?

Post » Sun Apr 13, 2014 7:26 pm

(to those who are not familiar with the term "pile of shame", it refers to the pile of games you have purchased, but have yet to fully play/beat)

was setting up my new Entertainment system, and I realized my Pile of Shame is ridiculous...

for my PS3 I have 17 games I have purchased but yet to beat..
for my XBOX 360 I have 2 Games I have yet to beat
for my PS2 I've got 7 games I have yet to play or beat..
on my Steam Account I have 14 games I have yet to play..
on Origin I have 2 game I have yet to beat..
on UPlay I have 3..
for my 3DS I have 3 Games I still need to play..
from GoG.com I have 16 games..
I Have 4 Visual Novels I purchased I still need to beat..
and then I have 3 Older Games I purchased a few years back I still need to beat..

So thats a total of 71 games in my Pile of Shame... on the bright side, due to being laid off because my office is being shut down, I'll have plenty of time to make a dent in this pile before it gets any larger..

So, just how large is your pile of shame?

Many, but given their cheapness it isn't too bad. I've beaten about 70% of the games I own. When you own hundreds that's quite an accomplishment. Perhaps people will realize why I have such high standards, I've wandered form one side of the internet to the other in search of good games. Experience ones people don't even know exist. Naturally I'm going to be hard to please and have a high standard. I've seen small games developed for internal communities better than "AAA" games.

I have a very small pile. I've bought less than 20 games in the past decade but I have played all of them a lot, at least the multiplayer part.

Games I've bought? None. I always play what I buy.

Please note, what I buy means anything I purposely paid for... I've gotten games as gifts or as "extras" for buying something else that I don't care for and will not play. (Actually, I recently got "Rock Revolution" game for the X360 and do not care for it all. Leaving it factory sealed and will be selling it off. I got it cause the guy felt bad for having issues shipping the guitar and "Rock Band Track Pack Vol 2" that I did paid for so he just added that game without me knowing at all).

I've never had that many games to begin with (as I've mentioned multiple times here and there), but I was playing and enjoying Shadow of Chernobyl for a while until I got too frustrated with it to continue and stopped. I will likely play it again in the future if I can think of a good way to make it through, and there is only one other game I'm current playing that I haven't beaten yet. I haven't gotten a new game in a while because not many of them interest me, although I do occasionally look for one.

The games I've had from when I was younger, I've played and beaten all of them as well as a few others.. I rarely get conflicted on which one to play, and after I've started a particular game then I don't stop until I finish so I can move on to another one.

A few months ago I got every single game that I bought or had and didn't finish and put them on a shelf in my room. I know I am missing a lot but here are the main one's I put up there that I actually want to finish.

Okami- Never started

Bioshock- Started to hold me over until ME3 came out

Timeshift- Started and quit after 10 min because it was a complete copy/paste of Half-Life 2

SW: Rogue Squadron III

LoZ: Twilight Princess- About 75% done with the main story after having it since 2007

LoZ: Wind Waker

LoZ: Ocarina of Time

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

Pokemon Stadium 2

Dark Souls

KoA:Reckoning

Dragon's Dogma

And then there's Steam.

Divinity II

Morrowind

Metro 2033- Got it for free so I don't feel to bad about it

Portal 2

Witcher 1/2

XCOM:EU

No pile of shame here. I usually don't spend money on games, and when I do, I'll play it until I've svcked all the fun out of it.

No pile of shame. There are a few games (like skyrim) not beaten, but that's because I have no desire to play those games whatsoever.

Oblivion, Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Skyrim I have finished.

Games started but never completed

Company of Heroes (came awful close, but discovered TES and it fell by the wayside quickly)

Farcry 2 (played for a week before it magically turned into a Frisbee and got buried in my wall) Free with new video card

Morrowind (combat just plain svcks, there's no two ways around it)

Assassin's Creed IV (TBH, I liked the game, but anything with Punkbuster is a loser in my book) free with new video card

And that's about all I can think of at the moment.

Oh, that pile of shame. Phew. That pile of shame's very small, only three games or so, one of the first Mass Effect and the other two Shogun: Total War and Medieval: Total War.

My first thought too.

No piles of shame over here. Like I mentioned in the last thread about this (which wasn't too long ago!) I don't game beyond my means.

I'll stick to my current games because I've lost count of my PS1/PS2/GameCube games I haven't beat.

PS3:
-GTA IV: Couldn't get into it.
-Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe: didn't beat the DC story
-Motorstorm: never beat every race.
-Twisted Metal: couldn't get the controls down.
-Portal: never finished the last puzzle
-Half-Life 2 (and it's episodes): got stuck, never went back.
-Red Dead Redemption: loved it but never beat it
-Gran Turismo 6: never beat every race, didn't have the feel 5 did.
-AC Brotherhood: got burnt out on AC
-AC Revelations: same as Brotherhood
-Beowulf The Game: no reason needed
-Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode 2: didn't like it

PS4:
-AC Black Flag: same as the other AC games

PC:
-Minecraft: I never beat the Enderdragon but I'm not sure if this game can really be "beat"
-Terraria: never felt like beating the Wall of Flesh
-Battlefield 4: the campaign just feels unappealing to me

My biggest pile by far is my GOG downloads. Many of those games I am finding hard to play due to the graphics getting mangled in HD. I have 84 games from GOG. I have beaten maybe 3 or 4 of them. 80 in that pile of shame.

On X-Box 360, I have a few games. Fable, Kingdom of Keflings, Assassin's Creed 1 and 2, and quite a few old arcade games like Gyruss, Asteroids, and the like that I never beat at the arcades, either :)

On my PC, there are few more to add to my pile of shame. The Witcher 1 & 2, Dragon Age: Origins, and Oblivion. I think I also have Battle For Middle Earth and most of my Heroes of Might and Magic series (1-4). (I kind of svck at RTS games :) )

What's that put me at? 95 to 100 games in my "pile of shame?"
