How big is YOUR Skyrim Install?

Post » Thu Aug 08, 2013 8:36 am

READ OP:

  • This is NOT about save files. This is about the size of an extremely modded Skyrim for PC.

I thought this would be a fun little thread! So I was looking at my Skyrim, and noticed that with all of my mods, it was 20GB! So I'm wondering, how big is your Skyrim?

To check the size of it, go to you C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\Common\ folder, and right click on Skyrim, and click properties.

If you have backups of your game in there, move them to a temporary location before checking the size.

You completely misunderstood this. This isn't about savegame bloat, it's about how big actual Skyrim is with mods installed. The poll only has 6GB, not MB.

19.8GB, so I selected 20GB.

I don't understand this, we aren't talking about save files.

I know. You didn't specify whether console users can post. That's how large MY Skyrim is. Which is what you asked in your title. I'm not even talking about bloat.

It's fine though, just ignore my post.

11.9GB with mods. Thats with 53 active mods, most are small tweaks but i do have a few big mods like Falskaar, Wyrmstooth and Immerisve Armors.

I'm sorry for the confusion i assumed this as about save file size judging off the title. I should have payed more attention but as i said my focus was on something else

OH, I see. I was confused because your save is 6MB, and you voted 6GB. I understand now.

Thanks! I apreciate it.

Currently, it's 21 gigs. But I'm running what I consider to be a fairly lightly-modded game right now. My ES games are usually much larger. My Morrowind folders were never smaller than 60 gigs, back in the day.

A 60GB Morrowind? I didn't even know that was possible? What size is your main hard drive, may I ask?

My D drive (the one my Steam folder is on) is a 1 terabyte drive. But I don't remember how big my drives were when I was modding Morrowind. 500 gigs, maybe?

I know right? That's my HDD size. And I keep a vannilla and a current backup at all times.

You could decrease that a bit by compressing some files like backups, videos, music, stuff like that. I'm compressing my backup as I'm writing this.

I suggest 7zip. But yeah.

Also, .MP3, .MP3, and .WMV files are already in a compressed format, so compressing them won't do anything.

Empty the recycle bin and clean your temporary folders ;)

Did that all the other day. I prefer Winrar as it has always served my reliably.

Just short of 25 GB would be higher if the game had a 64bit version

All a matter of taste I suppose. Good luck!

There are plenty of mods out there that won't decrease performance.

Also, try this mod called HiAlgoBoost, it increases FPS without decreasing visual quality.
