How do we breed for stats?

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2016 5:46 am

I was trying to breed for a strength-based child. The parents had a combined strength of 5, making it the dominant stat, but when the kid was born their highest stat was charisma. Almost every damn baby is born with high charisma. That doesn't help at all when I'm trying to get good stats to keep my resource rooms afloat. How do we manage this?

I think its kinda random. I have better luck when one parent isn't high in charisma. Like if one is high in intelligence and charisma, make sure the other one is only high in intelligence if you want intelligent kids.

The father was either 3 or 5 in strength (can't remember who the father was lol). Either way, their charisma was at 1. The mother had 2 of everything except int. This would add up to 5-7 strength, and 3 charisma. By logic, wouldn't that make the baby strength-based, and definitely not charisma-based? It just seems like 90% of the time, no matter who breeds with who, they're charisma-based.

I have definitely noticed this. Lots of charisma based babies.

Also endurance based dwellers are nearly useless. What does everyone else do with them?

I'm considering sending them into the wastes to die, or rush a room by themselves.

It is random ... I bred people I had maxed (all 10s in every stat) and their children varied from 1-2 on stats up to 9 ... didn't appear to be any consistency or repeatability

Make them your explorers, or guards for the vault door, as endurance increases their max health.

Another friggin baby who should've been strength-based just popped out as charisma-based. WTF! How are we supposed to optimize rooms early on if this crap keeps happening?

I used outfits to supplement my SPECIAL stats until I was able to raise a bunch of dwellers in the SPECIAL enhancement rooms

That's what I'm doing, too, yet I get nothing but charisma.

Just bad luck ... make sure you send your explorers out to the 20 and 30 hour events (if they are strong enough) ... you can get two items at each event (diner and gas station) and your chance of rares is higher

MaxFactor Endurance does nothing in the vault for your survivability, and it doesn't increase max health outside the vault either. Outside the vault it is your "armor" attribute causing you to take less damage and radiation damage. That is all it does.

Endurance is for the nuka cola room when you have enough people to build one.
